Douglas is testament to that.

I'm torn on the issue frankly.

Some of our genuine stars were never dropped. Ricciuto, Hart, Rehn, Modra, Goodwin, Smart. Once they were in, they were in. Others (McLeod, Edwards) did spend time out of the team in their first season or two and it obviously did them no harm.

I guess there is no one set way but it worries me that in Craig's time we have not had a single player who has come in, settled in to the pace of the game quickly, has had faith shown in them and they leave the SANFL behind forever.

I understand that there were mitigating circumstances with Dangerfield though.

Well, id argue van Berlo was given a pretty big leap of faith, but its true that he did go back once or twice in his first season after debuting. We havent had the one game then never out again experience recently, though we've certainly had success in our second runs... guys like Sloane, Otto etc have done well in their second seasons after a taste the year before and never looked back.

I do tend to think its responsible to not overtax young players physically though. By that i mean, there are certainly times when young players should be sent back down, no matter how good they look, just to recover from the strain playing at the higher level places on immature bodies. Its a case by case thing though.

Andy Otten ftw!

Otten was sent packing! I guess he didn't show enough on the bench to warrant another opportunity :p

Van Berlo is one though, pretty much a regular from debut onwards. And it's delivered us a captain - say no more!

I know... chicken or egg.

David Mackay, Kurt Tippett.

The only time they have seen the SANFL since debut, aside from returning from injury, is a brief refresher of 1-2 rounds in their first full season of playing - remembering that despite both being drafted in 2006, they both suffered season ending injuries very early in 2007 and debuted in 2008.

Correct me if im wrong but it doesnt actually say he has been delisted. Which would mean that Adelaide are willing to trade him during trade week? Or does this mean they are going to cut/delist him beforehand? I guess if WC offered pick #99 the crows would simply take it...

Problem with that is picks traded have to be used, depending on how many picks we have, that may result in us passing pick 72 (or whatever) because we have to use pick 99

Not anymore they changed that rule 2-3 years ago. When Steven King was traded from Geelong to St. Kilda it was for a pick in the 80's I think and it was never used.
