I find it hilarious that a number of Essendon supporters are now jumping on saying that it's well known what Carlisle gets up to in his spare time and a little due diligence would have picked this up.

I call bullshit on this claim. This thread is almost 650 pages. Point me to one post prior to this breaking where a disgruntled EFC supporter has raised it. Seriously, some of you blokes are adults and reasonably smart going by some of your posts and should know better and yet you come on here frothing at the mouth playing bullshit one-up manship games. Obviously it makes you feel better.

Why would we talk about it? What would it achieve?

"Hey everyone I saw Carlisle at Revolver and his eyes were rolling in the back of his head at 3am."

Atleast 1/4 of the players under the age of 25 in the league would of done an illicit drug in the past year.
I personally have seen Jake not in the greatest of forms at a club, so was half the night club chewing it's bottom lip off. *shocking revelation*

The doing drugs i dont reckon is the issue here, its being stupid enough to film it..
No doing drugs is an issue when it is illegal and the people you purchase them from are usually low life's and the drugs can be cut by products that can get you banned for two years
Filming on top of it makes it even more ridiculous
The two issues are Carlisle drug taking and McConville non disclosure
Carlisle will get suspended for bringing the game into disrepute and McConville will get deregistered

Did the Dodo know?

St Kilda have stated that they didn't know the story would be aired, not that they didn't know what he'd done. That's the most intriguing thing about the whole situation for mine.

If they did know and thought it wouldn't come out, then........

Bombers supporters will be happy to see the back of him after his carry on, on field.

Then he was at a suburban final only a few weeks ago and described his bomber teammates as a "bunch of *******s" to the people around him.
If that didn't tell a story about his complete lack of judgement, then filming himself snort a rail, and sharing it on social media just nails it.

He's obviously not too bright.

Have the Saints just wasted their picks on a snow-blower & if so what are the ramifications?, discuss.....

Illicit drugs that aren't performance enhancing shouldn't be an issue for anyone. How does everyone take such a "holier-than-thou" line on it when every AFL journo and commissioner would have at least dabbled?

How are you supposed to find a player in the AFL who hasn't sparked up while playing some Playstation, had a pill or two or fifty, bought a couple of grams of coke for a big party? Anyone saying "St Kilda should have known" is being disingenuous. Of course we knew he had a rep. But if every player who occasionally took recreational drugs was out of the AFL then it'd be Houli, Saad, Rance and Zaharakis having a kick on their own. Same as 18-30 year olds in any other industry. We all know it's true so why do we bullshit about it?

That said, filming it is stupid. Very similar to the Lovett situation; yes, he was a dropkick, but neither the Saints or Essendon had reason to expect he'd do something as bad as he did. Same with Carlisle. Most people who do drugs once in a while don't commit it to social media so that everyone knows about it. So he's obviously a moron. But again, if all of the morons in AFL footy were out the door then how would we fill up 18 lists with 45 players?

Anyone at Essendon taking a holier than thou attitude after the past 2 years is a moron... Perhaps the sh1te your club has put him through has meant he needed to unwind and went overboard with his celebrations..

Filming it and then sending it via social media is new level of stupid though, and shows a complete lack of judgement and that is thing i would be worried about if i was a Saints fan.

Should have never given pick 5 for him he is not that good and has an attitude problem. Essendon has ripped this one apart.

My hope was he spends time with John Nicholls and take him in the jails to harden him up and use him as a punching bag and make him cry three times per week. That's what he needs. He needs to be rag dolled by the hardest and toughest in Carlton this opportunity is missed.

Also if it was an Essendon player who is responsible for the footage going public, god I hope Jake feels so aggrieved that he goes public with exactly what happened in 2012.

The AFL don't want the truth of 2012. They created a new truth to suit their story. JC coming out and stating nothing happened won't get airtime

I can't imagine the Dogs will be rushing to trade for a guy who is asking for 600k+ despite not deserving that sort of coin based on current performances, who has a ban hanging over his head, and issues off-field (which will not be discussed here).
Yeah, don't think this is all hindsight. Just because it wasn't openly discussed in here with respect to Jake doesn't mean some of us didn't know.

It was a good trade for all involved. Essendon, Saints got the picks they wanted, Bird found a new home and the Swans presumably got an undertaking from the Bombers not to bid on their highly rated academy players.

This latest 'scandal' hasn't even been picked up by most of the mainstream media, pretty sure it will blow over. Regardless, it certainly won't affect Carlisle's footy. He will be a fine defender for the Saints and Essendon will be disappointed to lose him.
