Now Freo are after Bennell and McCarthy an ideal scenario (which probably wont happen)

Saints #5 to Freo for #16 and Weller (to join is brother)
Saints #16 to Essendon for Carlisle
Freo #5 and whatever for McCarthy

GWS #5 lose McCarthy
Essendon #16 lose Carlisle
Freo Get McCarthy lose #16 and Weller
Saints get Weller and Carlisle lose #5

Maybe Freo a bit duded but that is how a three or more way deal would operate

Oh dear....

Freo would not offer Weller and 16 for Curnow ...
16 for Carlise is unders ...
Saints walk away like bandits ...

Still like a 4-way trade between Collingwood, Essendon, Melbourne and St. Kilda with something like:

Collingwood lose: Freeman
Collingwood gain: Pick 25

Essendon lose: Carlisle + Melksham
Essendon gain: Pick 5

Melbourne lose: Picks 25
Melbourne gain: Melksham

St. Kilda lose: Pick 5
St. Kilda gain: Carlisle + Freeman

Pretty fair for all parties IMO. Melbourne and Essendon lose slightly but I'd be okay with it.

So McCarthy is higher value than Carlisle?

Can't see that deal working. I get the feeling StKilda think they can get Freeman on the cheap without involving him in the Carlisle trade

Don't have to convince St. Kilda, need to convince Collingwood to come to the party.

Why? Collingwood have to come to the party Freeman is uncontracted.
St. Kilda offer a 3rd round pick to Collingwood, and a 2nd round pick to Essendon. Both say no. Essendon go to Collingwood and say "We'll give you the 2nd round pick we get for Melksham if you help us get 5 from St. Kilda". They come to our party and we get St. Kilda to agree to the trade.

StKilda say "*^&% you both", and pick them up in the draft.

Both? Who's to say Carlton/Brisbane/Gold Coast/Essendon don't pick up either in the PSD? Freeman adds a lot to the Essendon and Brisbane midfields...

Don't hate this. GL getting 4 clubs to agree/communicate though!

It wouldn't even have to include Melbourne in the discussion. The suggestions are that they'll get 25 for Melksham done quickly, so that just gets it down to the other sides.

I don't see it I expect StKilda won't have much trouble forcing Collingwood to accept a 3rd rounder.

You underestimate Collingwood. Essendon offering pick 25 and they jump on it over 42.

What Essendon offers Collingwood is irrelevant if the Saints don't want to part with 5.

You'll have a much better chance getting our 1st next year.
