Yay, we did it guys! High fives all around.Cool this is as bad as the Yarran thread now.
GwiltNoone.
Except Chapman, Giles, Cooney and Leunberger in the past couple of years.
What do you mean "now"?Cool this is as bad as the Yarran thread now.
Emma Quayle seems to think we'll be keeping both our 2nd rounders.
We've supposedly got a reasonable amount of cap space (not in the "war-chest" category), but clearing out depth players like Bird allows us to have more flexibility in recontracting guys like Luke Parker. How bad is cap space at Sydney if they are already losing Pyke and Jetta?
This is a terrible deal for them. I assume the only reason to get involved was to stop Hawthorn getting Carlisle and probably another flag.

The deal doesn't seem too bad at face value. What makes it terrible?
No, I don't think it's connected to any potential deal for Talia. That'd be more likely to be a 3rd rounder, or future pick. Will it help get you talia

Yeah potentially - obviously clears out whatever salary Bird was on. We haven't made any delistings yet either.I meant clearing the depth for him to make room

The Swans priority is academy kid Callum Mills so we were only going to give away 14 if we ended up with more draft points in return. Bird's trade value was probably hurt from him missing most of this year with niggling injuries, but I'd say we'd have been happy with a pick in the 40's for him. Purely using the draft points system the trade of (14 + Bird) for (24 + 25) seems quite fair. I would have liked Sydney to try to grab another pick between 44 - 60 as a sweetener, but I think overall the deal is ok for all clubs.Giving up 14. And could have got an end of 2nd round for Bird on a free trade.
Or do the Swans have their eye on a few Academy players so a couple of mid 20 picks are more important?
Maybe this is better off in another thread, but I guess its still linked to Carlisle.
Ur dreaming. Bombers not giving up 2nd round pick ! 44 to Swans. %7 to Swans if Bird is included (the only variation that may happen is a swap of 25 for 33 Swans second round pick). Saints trying to make out like bandits but not succeedingSaints - 5 + 24 = Carlisle + 14 + 44
Essendon - Melksham + Carlisle + 44 = 5 + Bird
Swans - 14 + Bird = 24 + 25
Pretty damn even.

As we speak, St Kilda chief operating officer Ameet Bains, Essendon's list manager Adrian Dodoro and Sydney Swans recruiter Kinnear Beatson are inside AFL House ticking off the Carlisle deal.
