The issue is dead and buried for me BUT what is really pissing me off is ....
Our club and players getting a bad name and its driven by moron ex players in the media throwing pebbles when they themselves are the lowest form of life with little regard for anyone except for themselves .

SEN guys saying it wasn't good enough for women, etc. Then the sexist BS started- Saints trying to get a Womens team, Peta Searle, etc. Not good enough by Saints they said. Then said AFL need to make an announcement/statement, they can't say nothing because of AFLW, First lady CEO, First Lady Umpire.

They then went to callers, first bloke said they were only reporting it for the gains in the media, there was so much good footy to talk about instead.
Second was a lady who said it was a storm in a tea cup and need to move on. Asked her what she did- Hospitality. Hamish asked if someone abused her family as she served them, how would she feel? "This is on a footy field!" She said. Need to get over it......

Then they read some texts and there was a groud swell of them saying to get on with footy and that everyone was over the subject! So they changed topic and said they will leave it there.
The way in which they moved on was like they had been given a huge slap by the audience and they changed tack quick smart. I think it may be in our favour that the media have over publicised this and that the majority of the footy public realise it is being beaten to death and are over it.

Its all about clearing Carey's good ( sic) name rather than protecting Murphy and his family.

Footy has long embraced its more unrefined, somewhat loutish, characters (Dusty is the current one). Not everyone can be the perfect upstanding citizen with the model wife and model family (Judd, Riewoldt, etc etc the list is becoming endless). We just need to embrace Jake for what he is.

Have to say I'm totally pissed at what this may do to the perception of our club.........never underestimate that.

We all know the enormous damage it did to our club several years ago.....mud sometimes sticks...

Hopefully with the media cycle with it's lightening speed....this will blow over in a few days.

God knows what Matt Finnis and Richo have been thinking about the last 24 hours.

I was thinking about that last night if Jake came out with his side of the story........that would make very interesting listening.

Assuming his side of the story didn't create another shitstorm.

What intrigued me last night when Carey was talking on TF............was that he said the "rumours" involving him had been swirling around for months.......in and out of the footy world......

With a bit of luck.....social media will come under the blowtorch and less fire directed at the Saints.

So facts that we know about.

There was sledging going on, Carlisle said something that really upset Murphy, resulting in a brawl.

Damian Barrett announced that the sledge was to do with Wayne Carey sleeping with Murphy's wife.

Carey ruled out the truth of the rumour.
StKilda stated that was not what the sledge was.

Someone needs to call out Damian Barrett on his untruthful and hurtful media sledging.

Yeah I'm starting to think the sub text of all the moral outrage is actually just a way of legitimising outing the story of the Murphy family. The only people making it public knowledge are the media. I'm glad their in Murphys corner not ours.

But thought that's alright because " back then " they weren't properly educated etc.
Wonder what Jeff Farmer really thought of him back then.

Last week Lyon thought it was funny to greet Brian Stynes with his phony Irish accent.
I cringed and wondered what he would do if an Indian or Chinese person had rung in.
 
If this was hawthorn, news would have lasted about 2 hours.
Doesnt sledging happen at every single game. This idea that players have to be cookie cut out angels is bemusing.
Hawthorn (unsociable football) remember the behind the ball rib ticklers. Every game. Every chance they got behind the ball they took it. Sam Mitchell / Hodge? Angel player? Could do no wrong? Number 1 antagonist. Any media response ever?
But ofcourse a bit of StKilda sledging is unacceptable. MM must be an angel on the field and never partakes in any of that! Give me a break. What a crock of shit.
I have to say Im actually disapointed the way the club has handled this. Apologise for what?
Why dont we just get the rest of the players in the afl to put up their hands and start apologising for all the little things that are said during matches ffs. This is a joke.
I wish the club back up Carlisle. Its a mistake to ostrasize him. Club first!
 
In late news the truth behind the coming players strike in the cricket has been exposed!!!

Apparently Cricket Australia have decided to introduce an anti sledging code and the players have gone - f$%^ that - we're not playing if we can't abuse opposition players!!!

I'm assuming there will be back dated apologies made now to Milne, Roo and Gilbo and every other player who's mother and girlfriend has been mentioned on the battlefield.

Surprised Kim Duthie made it to 21 the amount of times she was spoken about poorly on the footy field at St Kilda games.

I can't stand the commentary around our great game any more. It's seriously out of control. I've never seen so many high horses.

All this week there's been players saying everyone knows where to draw the line and tbh I think that's more bullshit than truth.

Mumford gave buddy a mental illness spray and for sure it would've been a sly dig at the drug rumors about him...don't see that being wound up by the media like this whole problem is......then Carey and Darcy both say there was nothing in it and stop being precious as what's on the field stays on the field
Bet that tunes changed now for them.....gotta go along with what everyone else says when the whole sporting country is talking about it otherwise you'll get turned on by your peers

So personal insults about past mistakes and drug use are ok, even though that might be quite painful for the player now, struggling time in his life etc etc, couldve had some probs mentally...like Budd, who knows, murph doesn't...slagged him about it anyway
Then goes all cockahoot when someone tells him someone mouths about his mrs
