To be honest if what the video shows is true I hope we turn it around support jake get him help. More members to gain by showing to be a club of strength then banish him after a mistake.... Just my opinion after hearing various posters and radio personalities ask to sack him

That's wishful thinking IMO Stav... people are largely high & mighty & love to be judgemental. Personally I've got no problem with young blokes who are cashed up indulging in their private time in the off season.

I'm really concerned that this scandal will again be attributed as a St Kilda issue & the rumoured sponsorship deal with Peugeot will fall over. This trade period has been absolute proof that we are a target & I wouldn't at all be surprised if this is dragged out for as long as possible & the Hawthorn accusations fall into the background.

I hope I'm wrong but I stated months ago that Carlisle is a risk & so far he has helped his old club get a better deal & now this. His first day at Seaford will be very interesting when he fronts Roo & co.

No Collingwood get sponsorship because they receive maximum exposure each season .

I agree to a point but if Holden wanted to put money into a club they get high exposure with Collingwood and you would back collingwood to have a demographic that likes your product. The Saints are a bit of a south east corridor demographic of heavily mortgaged, white bread blandness. I'm not sure what we stand for but maybe we could get Pablo Escobar to sponsor us now....the Columbian government?

That"s not true they had it at least 24 hours before that as they notified Carlisle's manager they were going to run with it.
Im telling you they didn't have it in their possession till yesterday. Manager knew their was footage of it floating around
I put it on our board yesterday about 11am but got blocked very quickly.

1) timing stinks
2) huge dampener on the trade
3) lack of media coverage is highly unusual
4) Had David King heard about this with his "Carlisle will be a bust #youwatch" tweet yesterday, or is that paying way too much credit to David King?

It's just unbelievable timing. If it happened 24 hours earlier we would have got him for SFA. Now we have over paid and already have a huge smear on us.

  1. 9.33AM: JAKE CARLISLE STATEMENT
  2. After footage of Jake Carlisle was shown on 'A Current Affair' he has just issued this statement.
  3. I have made a very poor decision and let people down and for that I am embarrassed and truly sorry. First, I would like to apologise to allSt Kilda members, supporters and staff, AFL fans as well as my new teammates.

I am aware of footage being aired of me last night and Iwant to be upfront and say that I made a mistake.

The video casts me in a very poor light and reveals clearly inappropriate behaviour which I regret but am accountable for.

I know that in a few weeks’ time when I join St Kilda I’m going to be expected to be open and honest with my new club so want to start byconfirming my error of judgment right now.

St Kilda have shown great confidence in me and when I startwith them I will need to earn their respect and win back the confidence of theplaying group and broader Saints community.

I will learn from my mistake and when I return to AustraliaI will commit to any Club or AFL requirements or educational programs.

Again,I apologise for my behaviour and stress that when I join my new Club, I will do everything I can to live up to the standards and values they are building at StKilda.

That would have been written by our media department. Went okay but still monumental **** up for our club. It's like when you buy a new car and the next day they release a new model and you lose a massive amount of the value overnight. Essendon are a pack of......

Hmmm that's a bit of a nothing statement regarding his actions, so the video is true then? didn't he tweet yesterday saying he'd never tried drugs??

Hope he cleared this with the club first.

I'd be very nervous if i were his manager.

I want to hear JC's side of the story today!! That video doesn't look good.

I just can't see him playing with us next year. The thought of Essendon getting a possible gun at pick 5 makes me sick.

If this is incident is what gets him to pull up his socks and mature then I'm all for it. May just be a blessing in disguise

He'll know he's being watched very closely from now on, just need to hope nothing else from the past comes to light that will destabilise any positive efforts

Thing that pisses me off as much as anything is half the media who are getting stuck in aren't angels themselves. A mate of mine's relative works for one of the major media outlets and he's told me several times that this is the case. Just sickening double standards.

It's a bad look at any rate. Got a lot to prove Jake. Maybe considering cutting your holiday short and start getting to work

Yeah like Fev did. I liked the bit where he turned it all around. Brisbane is still paying for trading in Fev. I hope we don't go the same way.

Gee I feel sorry for the ppl like Ameet, Richo, Finnis and the rest of the team that put so much work into having a great trade period and positive media over the last 2 years. They did so much to undo most of the negative publicity over the previous years and I think they rightfully received media awards for this.
Then they got this dumped on them, and they will cop it again from the likes of aca and the herald sun craptorial.

My thinking also.

Happy about the statement. Good to see that instead of trying to disprove or discredit he admitted fault. Now he has to prove it.
