What's the point in a "No Oppositions Supporters" tag? o_O

Because there's no "Don't be a tool or post the first (probably second and third as well) thing that comes into your head if you're an opposition supporter" tag (mod edit)

Just wanted to stop by and say that obviously this incident isn't great..hopefully the saints can mentor him and teach a bit of sense...

But what I really wanted to say is that as an Essendon fan, I'm not happy he's gone..

I think he has the potential to be one of the best players in the AFL...

Had he gone to the Hawks in that sort of team, I think he'd flourish up forward or in defence because the Hawks midfield are ball magnets and I'd imagine he'd lift in form and skills with that sort of team ...

If I had a 10pm curfew I would end up f#%king up in some way - and then sacked ?
Let's be a little bit realistic here.
mate first off i said this is only my opinion. i only said he should be sacked if he has another major indiscretion like what he's just done...and i said something like, doesn't have to be 10pm necessarily but mate the club has to take some serious action here, they can't not after all this bs that's happened

I actually think Jake will come good with some of the people at our club around him. If he spends enough time with Hugh Goddard, Danny Frawley, Alan Richardson, Dempster, Roo and co. A mix of young and old and players and coaches who he'll likely have a lot to do with, all very good quality people.
He'll only come good if he draws a line & put's his experience at his previous club behind him. Once the Peptides issue can finally be put to bed, in conjunction with a fresh start under Richo, hopefully he'll perform to his capability. He has no option, but to repay the faith the club has shown in him!

Temperamental & unstable.

Very 'social' with the frothies. (and thats an understatement)

A very VERY bad boy.............very bad.

A shadow of controversy followed his career.

All these players had a chance at one stage of their career to get the arse.
Now im not for one second putting Jake in their class. Or saying he has the runs on the board BUT lets give the bloke a chance before we write him off already.
And thats A CHANCE AT ST.KILDA not judged on being a knob before getting here. Those Essendon habits are hard to break you know:D
Trust me, if he plays well for us we will forgive him. If hes a gun we'll even love him maybe:p

Ive always been a sucker for a bad boy ;)
Our history is littered with "bad boys", & they have been some of the game's greatest.
You can add Ditterich, Plugger, Ian Stewart....................

Dude you cant just impose a blanket curfew as an employer, that sits so far outside of the clubs legal ability it isnt funny. Besides treating him like a literal child isnt going to teach him how to grow up and mature.

Rather than imposing a big fine, or suspending him for a game or three, I think we should really think about this and find some ways to make this really sink in and hopefully educate, mature and improve him, rather than so much "punishing" him.

Perhaps send him to a hospital emergency unit for a day, if possible, so that he can see first hand what damage drugs can do, or something along those lines and maybe get him to volunteer at a drug rehab clinic on his days off for 6 months, or something like that.

Something that gets him off the Playstation and contributing positively to those who really need it. Something to make him really wake up to how lucky he is and to get him out of the little bubble that he perhaps lives in.

Great post. The club has been punished enough. Banning him from games just further punishes the club. Every moron in the press is preaching to us that we should ban him from games and all sorts of other crap. Hopefully this is a wake up call for Carlisle.

Nat Edwards on AFL website running with "Saints Shame" with a mock up photo of Carlisle in the Saints jumper and a big STKFC emblem for the story.
Could have run the story focused on Carlisle but went for the maximum brand damage approach.
Not really into conspiracy theories but sometimes think there is a deliberate vendetta against the club.
Seriously infuriating. She needs a good talking too.

She does say Saint's shame in the headline (if she meant the club it would have been written Saints' shame) so she is basically calling Carlisle a Saint and describing his shame in greater detail in the clip. It is misleading though. I tweeted her my disappointment that the club is tarnished unjustly.

Was an out-n-out hatchet job. Expect that from a tabloid rag but not the AFL.

Maybe she was the one that Finnis totally shut down in his presser. The woman asked a ridiculous question just can't remember what it was

Media Statement - Jake Carlisle

I have made a very poor decision and let people down and for that I am embarrassed and truly sorry. First, I would like to apologise to all St Kilda members, supporters and staff, AFL fans as well as my new teammates.

I am aware of footage being aired of me last night and I want to be upfront and say that I made a mistake.

The video casts me in a very poor light and reveals clearly inappropriate behaviour which I regret but am accountable for.

I know that in a few weeks’ time when I join St Kilda I’m going to be expected to be open and honest with my new club so want to start by confirming my error of judgment right now.

St Kilda have shown great confidence in me and when I start with them I will need to earn their respect and win back the confidence of the playing group and broader Saints community.

I will learn from my mistake and when I return to Australia I will commit to any Club or AFL requirements or educational programs.

Again, I apologise for my behaviour and stress that when I join my new Club, I will do everything I can to live up to the standards and values they are building at St Kilda.

I would be very very very surprised if Carlisle wrote this

My inside word on Carlisle is that the gates are down the lights are flashing but the train aint coming

I mean the is guy is paralyzed from the neck up - there is dumb, there is Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne and then there is Jake Carlisle - the perfect renewable energy source for hot air balloons

Can only hope we can find the missing 95 cents before its too late!!

Good article in the Age today - very clear on the Saints position as totally blameless

"To his credit, Carlisle came clean and, following conversations between club officials, himself and his management and the AFL, he put out a statement tantamount to a confession.

The conversation between coach Alan Richardson and Carlisle would have been worth hearing.

The Saints can only make the best of the situation. They can treat this as an opportunity to rehabilitate and make a better Carlisle, thereby demonstrating a new St Kilda."

Hopefully this is the much-needed reality check that some young guys need to get them thinking about their future. I think with our club's current mindset, and with focussed people around him, Jake may benefit greatly as a person.

Steve Salisbury the American guy on SEN related the story last night of two NBA players about Carlisle's age, back in the mid 80's who partied on coke and their hearts literally exploded.
24 year olds think they are bullet proof however the long term health effects could be signicant leading even to death

Maybe so. Douggie Hawkins wad no Einstein but was a great footballer and a good person. Even Spud Frawley isn't that smart. Neither were total fools though. This is why it is good for Spud to get involved with Carlisle. Just help him make correct decisions and not be so full of himself

Edit. Just read above and it sounds like I am casting aspersions on Spud. Not my intention. And not implying Spud is dumb or stupid
