Firstly, my avatar is a bit of a piss-take. Secondly, majority of your political sentiment is very debatable. Thirdly, blokes like Toby Mitchell are responsible for the ice epidemic that is currently destroying thousands of people's (and their respective families) lives every single day...he is the lowest of low!

Only it isn't at all debatable, is it?

John Howard, George W. and Tony Blair are in fact responsible for over one million innocent civilian deaths. Blair has admitted as much, that the whole invasion of Iraq was predicated on a lie.

This, by any definition makes them war criminals.

Toby Mitchell may be a scumbag but when you defend the likes of John Howard you really aren't in any position to point the finger.

Toby Mitchell isn't responsible for the ice epidemic, every single person who puts it to their mouth is responsible
Obviously they are largely at fault as well. Does that mean you have absolutely no issue with drug dealers?
I wouldn't defend drug dealers, and if Mitchell is one as alleged then I would personally never have anything to do with him. The way I understand what is going on with him and Jake has to do with a back story of growing up in a tough environment and Mitchell giving the young kid some sort of help which he returns with fierce and unconditional friendship. No-one has suggested that Jake is in any way involved in criminal activities himself. My point was that if players hang out with corporate criminals no-one would bat an eye. If they invited Christopher Skase or Alan Bond into the rooms there'd be no scandal; Pratt was convicted, but no-one in Carlton did anything to distance the club from him. I worked in Sunshine in the Job Network for a number of years and I had criminals and druggies on my caseload along with people who'd been victimised and pushed around and had their lives destroyed in many ways. But if you asked me what individual was responsible for the greatest misery amongst that little slice of unemployed humanity I had to deal with, I wouldn't have nominated a drug dealer - the answer would be a certain former president of Hawthorn.

Why should all of Sheehan's guests be champions? I like to watch interviews and stories of people that are interesting and have had different experiences. I haven't seen last night's show yet but I've recorded it and I'm looking forward to hearing King's story.

Yup

If you gave me a book on John Daly I'd read it

If you gave me a book on nick Faldo ....id use to start my fire

If Nathan Buckley wrote a book I wouldn't read it

I've read Kevin sheedys books

Give me a character with a tough past over clean living superstars

Jake had something .....forged a career in footy and made something of himself .....we should be applauding that and saying hey you can be from the hood and still make it not making character judgements ...

I have a fair bit of respect for him now.
I'm not interested in how intelligent someone is, I'm more interested in how they are as a person. And he comes across as someone who has a lot of empathy for others, is down to earth and loyal. All the characteristics that make a quality individual and friend.

And before I saw this I used to think he may be a bit of a flog with all that push up bullshit and the tough guy tats etc etc

Never judge a book by it's cover.

Someone got it. :thumbsu::thumbsu:

All I see when I look at Jake King is someone who got 100% out of his career. If half the so called talented footballers worked as hard as Jake then the AFL would be a better place to watch

Fair point. Maybe.

Read somewhere that Sheedy knocked around with a few blokes during his days as a plumber who wound up in jail. Nobody ever mentions it.
Does he still count them as "family"?

People forget the guy lacked real talent.
He made it off pure effort and hustle.

Players like that seem to often have an interesting story.

If anyone follows the golf, look up the story of Billy Hurley III.
Won his first PGA tournament on the weekend and the story to go along with it is intense.

Give me an interesting story over a champion with clichés anyday

I have the total opposite view to the OP after watching it.

An ex gf of mine got lured into the bikie/drug world when she was just 19 by a so called friend (female) who went out and targeted young naive women so the bikies could basically creep on these young girls using drugs and manipulation. This supposedly happens often and the girls get hooked on drugs and are basically meat for these men to gradually wear down.

What happened to her one night is truly digusting and still sickens me anytime I think about it.

I'm not saying all of the bikie groups involved in drug dealings or other shady business are like this but these men are scum to me.

Jake King is an absolute moron in my eyes if he thinks this guy is family and is a top bloke.

you should read Buck's book and you will understand why he turned out like he did. he didn't have the normal, live in the burbs upbringing.

Jake King a player better known for his off field behaviour than his on field endeavours. Episode was more like a gossip session than discussion on his football at times.

Qualified plumber by the age of just 20 you say ?

The guy must have been a veritable prodigy.
