Schache and Danniher would be a nice forward line, plus Stewart is handy and mobile enough to still play third tall in that lineup.

I reckon Francis/Schache are on par. Cameron has played a good season this year, but still has question marks on his disposal (and not small ones, he is a terrible kick).

yeah but Cameron wants out and his value will be much less next year if he sticks around
Francis has a higher upside but from all reports is a bit lazy... but maybe its a factor of the homesickness

trade out a guy while he still has value and bring in a guy who will most certainly not want to leave.

Yep, spot on. I think that deal is a fall back if Essendon can't find Stringer. I would give it till midday. If it can't be done expect Essendon to break away.

Even if it's not a real option, makes a great red herring to turn up the heat on J-Mac.

Trade week is such great theatre. I won't be in Australia for most of the 2018 (or 2019 or 2020) footy season but I'll definitely have to log back in for that one week in October. Won't know who any of the players involved are, but who cares.

I've never seen a player more overrated than Cameron. Taking out the prelim, that's 24 goals in 23 games for a 23 year-old ex-rookie. Most clubs would rather a player like Francis than someone like Cameron.

Because even 29 goals in 24 games is nothing special. Certainly not worth the pick 12 that Adelaide are demanding.

Plus, he is not going to sign another contract with the Crows, which would drop his value in 12 months time.

And Hooker at FB (which should prolong him in our best 22)

understand that you think 25 and 30 are unders but it is a much better deal than 19

It depends on what we use the picks for.
If we were taking both picks to the draft - absolutely.

If we're only taking one or on-trading a pick for a player - 19 may get us what we want. At this stage there's no visibility.

I would flip Francis for Schache but can't see it happening at all.

Hooker is an improvement on Hartley at FB. He won an AA in the position and he would last longer in our 22 as FB (should be able to get a good 4-5 years out of him).

Francis & Ridley have always posed a conundrum for me.
Both strong intercept markers. Both use the ball with poise and skill.
I feel we would have had selection issues playing both, plus Hurley.

But i also think Francis would have transitioned to a utility on-baller (of which we have Langford, Laverde, Begley, Redman)

If the end result is Francis, Pick 11 and 2018 2nd rd slide into the 3rd out, and Stringer, Smith, Saad and Schache in i'd be stoked.
