Most organisations bury bad news by releasing it Christmas Eve/Christmas Day.

Curious choice of release date for a good news story but, then again, Freo.

You may or may not remember but Christmas use to be on a different day, they changed it to the day Serong signed.

Aside from the Bont and Naughrton, I cannor imagine there would be many players on massive coin at the Kennel

They could most likely match any potential rival clubs (financial) offer, in the imo (very unlikely) scenario he leaves The Bulldogs, it would be for non financial reasons.

Tim English
Jack Macrae signed for 7 years when he was in his prime
Bailey Smith

Macrae signed longer contract on less coin
English will now be paid higher so thats 3
Smith isn't on that much
Caleb Daniel might get a decent contract but apart from that you don't have anyone that would be on huge money.
Will be a little top heavy with Naughton on huge coin and Bonts next contract will be between 1.2 and 1.5

Daniel already signed through to 2026. Naughton's already on $800k or so, the bump isn't massive for his next deal, will be the same for English. Bont is going to be demanding top dollar from us.

Sorry I meant Daniel would be on a decent contract

Libba would be on decent coin, Bailey Dale would be $700+, Lobb didn’t come for base rates and Treloar still on reasonable cash.

I rate JHU very highly, have already backed him for next years Coleman, is the best young key forward in the game and rightfully should be commanding monster money.. if Dogs don’t put it up someone like Sydney will be sniffing.

Libba is not on that much, Dale would be no where near 700k, Lobb extended his contract length to smooth the money out is only 500k and Collingwood are still paying 300k of Treloars contract

Dogs pay Treloar about 600K for 2 more years according to the news papers in 2020. Collingwood will cover the other 300k.

Macrae is on huge cash. So is English.

Dogs are paying less than $600k for Treloar.

Deal was $4.5m over 5 years, Dogs pay $3m, Pies $1.5m.

After dispute, it was agreed that Dogs would front end their proportion of payments as Pies had major salary cap issues at the time.

Exact proportions weren't disclosed, but speculation was that Pies would pay Year 1 - $100k, yr2 - 200k, yr3 - 300k, yr 4 - 400k, yr5 - 500k.

If that's roughly accurate, we are entering years 4-5 and Dogs would be paying Treloar $400k - $500k, Pies similar.

If Dogs continue to go backwards the decision may be about more than just financial terms and more about playing finals. If Smith leaves the dogs quality young players are starting to look quite thin.

Haha, geez. Maybe you shouldn't comment on something you don't have any idea about. There is plenty of young talent on the dogs' list. It is also very unlikely that JUH leaves, so hate to burst your bubble there.

Smith isn't also guaranteed and if he goes he is replaceable.

There is plenty of talent on the dogs list, nobody would question that.
The issue is the results with that list

Its uneven and got glaring holes in several areas, esp the midfield and an aging and injury prone backline.

And then there is question marks about Bevo and if he has lost the players ?
