James Hird - most overblown retirement ever ?

Why do people always respond with a comment about the team supported instead of addressing the issue raised?

By the way the thread was started by a St.Kilda supporter

Did anybody say he aint a champ? Just said it is being dragged out and overexposed.

Oh look a Brisbane supporter agrees, guess peppy and buddy will struggle to make comebacks now!

Not going to struggle at all mate, i was responding to Lenny29 who was turning it into a Buckley v Hird thing.

Petty jelausly aside, Hird deserves all the accolades.

Don't hate the player, hate the team :thumbsu:

Quoted because you're a moron and once someone (hey, let's make it me!) calls you on it you'll probably edit.

Where did I turn this to Hird v Buckley? I said I was sick of the overblown Hird retirement and Best Buddy mentioned Bucks.

Apology accepted, now back in your box. :thumbsu:

A) I was quoting and responding to a collingwood fan's post, but don't let the facts get in the way.
The collingwood supporter was agreeing with the sentiment of the opening post that Hird's retirement has been ridiculous.
B) I have no issue with a Brisbane supporter agrees with me. It is when a pies supporter agrees that I will start to contemplate putting the keyboard away.
The Brisbane supporter agreed with the Collingwood fan that Hird's retirement has been overexposed!

??? What???

Nobody mentioned Buckley

How i read it was that, Lenny was referring to Crawford when responding to the Buddy - hence premiershipless (former) captain = Crawford.

Petty jelausly aside, Hird deserves all the accolades.

He deserves to ride in front of the GF parade??

Why?

Umm, I'm not sure how I'm accused of the "glass houses" rubbish when I was responding to his baiting post.

Perhaps comprehension skills are in order?

Do the words" Premiershipless Captain " ring a bell , if they do then you would understand.

No need to belittle

Perhaps Pies supporters are still a bit jealous that the football public tends to rate Hirdy above FIGJAM?

How many flags has Bucks got again?

I'm jealous that the football public rates Hird above a lot of players.

Your premiershipless (former) captain being one of them.

Do the words" Premiershipless Captain " ring a bell , if they do then you would understand.

He is talking about Crawford, saying he doesn't think it is right that Hird is rated above so many players including Crawford!

lol what a ****en joke how jealous are some people that they can say that......and funny how u get a lot of crows supporters saying it live here in adel and see what the ricciuto retirement got .....plus most of the things hirdy did probably he didnt even want others did......no ne asked west coast to do what they did......and again u dont often get a great coach and great player retiring at the same time.......so some of u get a life and just appraciate what a champion he was .....

What does he have to do with the GF?

Why wasn't Roo with him? Or Archer? Or Kouta? Or S.Parker?

Good point, and maybe the powers that be could have arranged something.

Perhaps next year, if Buckley pulls the pin then he will ride the float. Will you be so bitter then

Don't blame James Hird that he lives and played footy in a footy obsessed city with an equally obessive and over bearing print and tv media.

Seriously there are way too many journos covering footy in Melbourne and this is what we get, it's like most things in this day and age. Things have to be done excessively and to a point of over saturation.

I am personally sick and tired of James Hird. One Flag One Brownlow and that is all yet he is paraded around like he has been the best ever.

Speaking of Best evers, how many best ever former players does a city need?

Vossy just had a press conference and that was pretty much it.

James Hird is one of the best players I've seen, but the hysteria surrounding his retirement is obscene.

The public create the hysteria.
The public are allowed to celebrate his career. You have the choice to take it or leave.

Just remember, without demand, there is no hysteria.

The difference with Hird and a lot of other players is he announced his retirement at the start of the year and actually played the majority of the games.

Suck it up princess, we'll continue to pay tribute to a legend.

Would only want Buckley in the parade if the Pies are in the GF.

That's fine and good on you.

If the pies do not make the final next year, and Figgy is on a float,

You can be assured that whilst you are booing, i will be looking on unperturbed . :)

ps. Well done Jimmy, R.E.S.P.E.C.T

You do realise that he was in the parade because he was employed by the AFL to be the "official" bearer of the Premiership Cup who presents the cup at all official Grand Final Functions. Ohhh..

It is also no surprise to see Collingwood supporters posting in this thread, they are obsessed with him.
