For those that don't want to watch the video:

Awful, awful injury.

He's a fireman in his day job I believe - hope he gets some protection for his income because he clearly won't be woerking for a while. Such a top bloke too...

A minimum 60k income protection is given however you can get more if you want (most players do).

He wont work as a fireman again. I imagine the club will look into giving him a job with our school program like Smith and Cones iirc have

That's good to hear. I wonder what the medical bills would be for such an injury? Covered under insurance?

Here's the video from ch. 10

The rest of this thread is enough warning before viewing, so don't blame me if you experience your last meal again.

All the best with recovery.

Holy shit that is horrific.

Just in the middle of an ACL recovery myself but Jaymie's looks ten times worse than what I did. All the best to him.

That leg is so stuffed, it would be a bloody jigsaw puzzle for the surgeon. Is it possible it's beyond repair and could be amputated? Seriously, if that happened to me I'd smash my head on the ground until I knocked myself out.

Good luck in your recovery Jaymie.:(

wow that was horrible, all the best for him and his recovery. such a bad thing to happen to someone who is regarded as such a top bloke.

I wish I hadn't heard about this. I did, but I'm not going to watch the video as it sounds absolutely sickening. Hentschel's was horrible, and for everyone to say this is way worse, I can't watch. I even feel sick just reading these posts.

All the best to him in recovery. Hopefully he gets lots of support.

Didn't he only recently get a job with the fire department as well ?

Nah he is studying at Uni, it was his good leg that got stuffed yesterday, will he play again? I doubt it but who knows, still very sore today and has to have surgery but didnt break his leg, BTW in the film clip its me to the side of the ambo carrying his bag

I also notice while taking him off they had a towel over his leg. Was that for a medical reason or just so people didn't have to look at it?

It was so no one could see it, it wasnt a pretty site. Thats why the South Freo players were there so the camera man couldnt get a good look

Unlucky footy accident/injury. Always thought he shoulda give up the game, retire and look after his family ... suppose now he will.

btw, good luck Jaymie in his recovery form this horrible injury. Hope Casey (his wife) and kids help him through the years of suffering he's gonna have from all his footy injuries ... it really is a tough gig on one's body.

Any update on what the prognosis is?

One of the worse injuries I have ever seen... wishing him all the best..

I just spoke to Jaymie's brother and he told me the knee is stuffed, needs a total reconstruction and all tendons are buggered. Looking like he'll have both knees operated on (his other was a dicky knee too) and spend the coupla months in a wheelchair before the looooooong hall of physio etc.

He doesn't want to think about his footy future for the moment ... & fair enough big fella.

That's a bit harsh, since that's pretty much what he did - gave up his a career with the Eagles for his family. You can't begrudge the man playing a local sport where you dont travel outside Perth & Mandurah.

All the best Jaymie for a good recovery, you were a great clubman at West Coast!

Ok then, always thought he should have gotten away from the Eagirls and come over to the Swans where there were no drugs .. :p

:D
