The London School of Economics is investigating a blog post by one of its lecturers, which sparked anger by discussing "why black women are less physically attractive.

According to those, the blog said that in the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health (Add Health), black women were, on average, rated to be less attractive than women of other races, while black men were not rated less attractive than men of other races.

Dr Kanazawa suggested that this may be because of higher body mass index or increased genetic mutations, but said that it might be because of higher testosterone levels

So is this racist science as the politically correct crowd are calling it, or is it fair call?

Have to be honest I don't see what the big outrage is. There are hardly any black women that I have found attractive compared to say, White, Japanese, or South American women. Just being honest.

I think though that he is in trouble as these days you just can't present survey's/studies when they will hurt a minorites feelings.

I'm a "leftist", and I don't subscribe to that. Take your political point-scoring elsewhere.

It's stupid that stuff like this gets branded as racist. It's also stupid when evolutionary psychology is branded racist or sexist. Sure, efforts should be taken with issues which could be misconstrued so that they are not misconstrued, but empirical findings should be politically neutral.

The most famous example is when a psychologist tried to argue that black people had lower IQs than white people, and this was a genetic thing. He got shot down, not because his work wasn't particularly sound (it wasn't, as it failed to take into account biases in the design and administration of IQ tests which tend to favour a white culture), but because it was deemed "racist".

Just on that point, it wouldn't surprise me if black people in America tended to have a lower IQ than white people, on average. IQ can be influenced by a number of things, including diet and physical health, which black people tend to fare poorer in than white people. Even sexual selection could have an effect; there is a cultural tendency amongst poor black communities to view intelligence and academia as uncool. This could be reflected in sexual selection, which could lead to subsequent generations being on average less intelligent.

All of that is just speculation though, obviously.

BTW, living in Atlanta, I am surrounded by 'African-Americans'. By and large, they are not very attractive. In fact more than a few of them are very fat, and I think the obesity stats of the southern states are inflated to a degree by the overall largeness of black folks.

Seen more than a few dark stunners, all the same, but they don't exist in the same proportion from my perspective.

Dr Kanazawa a Japanese is commenting on Why "Black women are less attractive"? I guess, as an academic he has no doubt done his research and given his reasons why he arrived at that conclusion. However, he might be well advised to do a similar project in relation to the women of his own country, they would have to be some of the ugliest car chasers that I've ever seen. Granted there are the exceptions but the majority of them have stepped straight out of the cast of Planet of The Apes.

When I was a kid growing up, and watched all those stories on the news about the end of communism, the Balkans war, and everything else about those shitty Eastern and Central European countries, I saw streams of ugly, ugly women. Real mole covered, haggard old babushkas that you wouldn't tap a billion years. Not a looker among them. I wondered how they bred.

Then I went to those places, and my god, talk about an eye opener. Seriously, every 20 something girl in Bulgaria was built like supermodel. It was heaven.

I think people's impressions are based on what they see on TV. If footage and voxpops of Penrith or Frankston were beamed into Africa, they would think Australians are the most hideous people on the planet.

Basically, take a slim, 20 something woman, and there is a 90% chance she will be considered sexually attractive.

Depends on person to person. I find black women attractive(when they are not fat) but I don't find Asian women attractive at all. I don't see why White guys go after Asian women. Physically they look like 12 year olds, have emotional problems and are high maintenance.

By personal rating I would go 1) Latinas 2) Indian(biased, I am Indian) 3) Arab/Middle eastern/Mediterranean 4) White 5) Black

However, its not that simple. As you can see above I rate white women lower than a lot of others but I love Irish girls and their accent.

I'm not talking about the blog post - I haven't read it.

I'm talking about the predictable reaction that has (as usual) become the story.

One controversial post/comment/story leads to a small number of complaints. The reaction to the complaint then leads to thousands of articles/posts more disgusting than the original story.

The Andrew Bolts of the world make a career out of it.

In terms of attractiveness, I think different races have different strengths. As an example, Asian chicks lack curves, they have no arses, **** or hips. But they exude femininity*, which is lacking in a lot of white women. And damn do asian chicks have nice legs compared to the fat things a lot of white women have.

I suppose the results of the guys survey largely depends on his sample and the women that this sample was asked to rate. If he sampled only caucasians, he'd have results skewed towards white women. If the black women that were rated looked like Fuzzy Wuzzy Bear's picture as opposed to a Halle Berry, then of course they'd get a poor rating.

I tend to find white women more attractive.

That said, I think it's because it's my subjective view, largely shaped by my social/cultural upbringing rather than any inherent quality any particular race may or may not have.

I dare say the cultural influence of hollywood pushing the idea that actress X (change name each week/month) epitomises sexiness would tilt the global scales somewhat, but at the same time, tell me you wouldn't want to jump Halle Berry if you got the chance.
