Yeah and the reports came out he would’ve preferred to stay we just weren’t offering in the crazy ball park of money or years that North were and were refusing to budge even with Polec wanting to stay as first priority.

If he was worth X2 first rounders then the PAFC would be offering more than 3 years at 500k .
 
So yeah, if he was a FA and left for the deal on the table, we'd get a first round compo pickstraight after our pick, which funnily enough is exactly what North have.

Everyone knows FA compo offers 'unders' so North should be offering a sweetener on top of their pick if anything.

But, we all know how this goes, we bend over and give a pick back and then tell our supporters how great this shit sandwich tastes: "we have two first round picks!!!"

Any North fan that thinks we'd accept any less than their first pick is an imbecile. He's easily worth pick 11/12. The only thing they may get back is a 3rd round pick that we aren't going to use, so that they can have some points.

However even if we did give them their own 3rd rounder back, I'm sure that would be tangled up in deals around Atley, Pittard and Hombsch, and our need/desire to bring all 5 of our picks (that we'll use) into the sub 25 range.


The deal will definitely be Polec for their 1st, and if we end up with some late draft currency that we won't use we may give it to them in good faith, however there's no real need for us to do that as Polec for 11/12, is already a pants down lap around the table win for the Roos.

But the important thing is they're only getting extra if we legitimately have no use for it.

If we get a first(11) and give a second-rounder back to North they use it to bid and get their discount. So we've got the first(1329 points) and they've got a second which is worth 900-1000 points to them. Plus Polec. Shows the total insanity of the "1st for Polec + a second" that the Herald Sun say North are asking for. But like you, my fear is the club will say "we've got two firsts and a second in a strong draft and we have to be good to North so they will trade with us later".

I wonder if another club has said “We need to be good to Port so they would trade with us.”

Apart from Carlton saving our bacon with the Lobbe deal it seems we overpay for players and get useless token picks for our depth.

If Norf are prepared to pay a bloke 750k a season for 5 years then he’s worth your first pick on his own.

Factor in also that hes not a free agent and was a pick 5 himself, it will be a straight trade with nothing coming back your way.
