Jarrad Waite

Since when has Fletcher ever picked up an opposition forward and beaten him?
He is the most overrated defender I have ever seen, unless ofcourse you don't rate a defenders "defensive" work.

Waite was fine and doesn't deserve some of the crap through at him in here, but that's fine because he plays for CFC anyhow so no need to worry.

Waite very much deserved to be there, as his current form and stats back up, but as he plays for the blues we apparently need to start a thread to bag the guy.

Fev put on a FF clinic with strong leads, great grabs and relatively straight kicking (good delivery granted), yet still copped a bagging from many who thought Burgoyne's no pressure link up possessions were more telling.

Judd can't win. He was bagged in the lead when it was presumed he wouldn't play, and bagged afterwards because he didn't tear the game apart. Fact is he was servicable.

Waite wasn't the best our there, but certainly not the worst.

I was thinking too that perhaps jarrad waite didnt deserve his position in the big V. At the same time though i couldnt think of anyone else to line up instead of him obviously from players who are currently fit. Nevertheless, even though he didnt put in the best performance, the experience and knowledge he would of got from his Victorian teammates should hold him in good stead for the future. :thumbsu:

Pav only had 4 disposals on Waite before Waite was moved. He kicked 2 behinds from those 4 disposals. One shot from just on 50 & the other from the boundary line. More importantly though, in a game where the forward lines dominated, Waite only conceded 1 goal (that was kicked by Richo at the 26 minute mark of the 3rd quarter). In comparison, Ben Rutten conceded 6 goals to Fev & Trent Croad conceded 9 shots on goal to Franklin (4.5).

Waite was one of only 2 Victorian KP defenders to provide any run from the Victorian defence, the other being Scarlett. Campbell Brown & Croad, on the other hand played very static roles in defence.

Someone got the stats? Waite kept all of his opponents quiet last night.

Could very well be the best CHB in the league by the end of the year.

Waite himself conceded in today's Hun that he had 6-7 goals kicked on him.
What freaking game were you guys watching?

The overrated B&F winner in the greatest team ever.:thumbsu:

Waite's disposal was a little sloppy at times but at the end of the night only had 1 goal kicked on him. Which was equal to at worst and less than most of the other KP defenders conceded from both teams.

Campbell Brown and Croady arent renowned runners out of the defence and I'm pretty sure Buddy has 9 shots just about every week. Waite shouldnt have been playing simple as that.

Stop making excuses for your own sides crappy defenders, loser.

Campbell and Croad were no better than Waite on the night. And in retrospect were less deserving of a spot in the V team based on their season so far and in the HOF game itself.

I would love to know who kicked those 6-7 goals on Waite, given he started on Pavlich & went to Richo. Croad was on Franklin, Scarlett on Mooney, so I am a little bit confused as to where the goals came from.

The fact this is even a point of discussion is absolutely ridiculous.
You CAN NOT RATE A PLAYER BASED ON HIS PERFORMANCE IN A BULLSHIT EXHIBITION MATCH WITH NO INTENSITY AND NOTHING ON THE LINE!
Yes, Jarrad Waite did not have a fantastic game...but it wasn't terrible either. The fact is...in a game like this defenders have no ____ing chance simply because delivery into forward line is near flawless based on how good the midfields are but more to the point there was no defensive pressure being applied from the midfield...how many tackles did we see on saturday night..or hip and shoulders? how many stoppages where there? not many...

In the same way...how can we rate pete burgoynes game given the fact that he was ALLOWED TO RUN FREE without Mark Thompson putting a tag on him? Same goes with Fevola...its easy when the delivery is that good and very little pressure coming from mid...

IF YOU WANT TO GET A REAL INDICATION OF WHAT KIND OF A PLAYER JARRAD WAITE REALLY IS I SUGGEST YOU WATCH CARLTONS FIRST 7 GAMES OF THE YEAR...

CLOSE THREAD PLEASE

The worst selection and performance for the Big V ever.

What was Sheeds thinking?

Has there ever been a guy that's played for the Big V that looked so out of their depth like Jarrad last night.

He had one shot at goal and sprayed it.. surprise, surprise and then got murdered by anyone that was forward.

Surely we had better options - Firrito, Harley, who else was there?

He's been poor his whole career. A few good games this year doesn't automatically make you a good player.
Oh dear.
You're getting funnier and funnier each time Kelvin. Reading your drivel is making me laugh more and more, keep it up.:D

We had two players that would have been playing but were injured (like the rest of our list).

Waite did't deserve to play and you know it.
Change the i in your name to a u and it would suit you perfectly.

good player but i dont know if he deserved a game with 'The Big V' just yet

You're probably right, but injuries & lack of in-form, quality KP Victorians, meant that Waite was the next best option & his form for 2008 had been good enough to attract a bit of attention. It is wrong though to say he was the worst player out there (I know you haven't said that) because there were a number of players who played below their best, including Motlop, Mooney, Rutten, Campbell Brown, among others.

Jarrad Waite Quote from Monday's Herald Sun. Article titled "Vic stars quick to collide" (Full transcript does not appear on website.
While Judd had a busy night, Carlton defender Jarrad Waite admitted he had felt the full force of a potent Dream Team attack, which included Franklin, Pavlich, Mooney and Richardson.
"Usually you only have to contend with one of them and not four of them," Waite said.
I had Pav at the start-he was plucking everything-then Richo for a bit," Waite said.
The it was onto Buddy, then the Birdman,so it was a big day. I reckon I would have had about six or seven kicked (on me)."

He has no problem when he plays colonwood ..nobody there can get a kick with Waite on them ...mind you i could nullify any forward in the pies line up

Have you read through the thread or just jumped in with a predictable and lame reply.
Mediumsizedred was one of several posters who stated that Waite had no goals (or 1 goal) kicked on him for the game.
I have replied with a quote from the man himself stating that he had 6-7 goals kicked on him for the game.
Back in your box .

As for Waite, he doesn't look like a natural defender to me but is too inconsistent up forward to be of any real value to the team. Hopefully he can continue with his good club form from a Carlton perspective so he can start to realise some of the potential he has been showing glimpses of for years now.
As for the HOF game, seriously out of his depth.

A Carlton supporter talking about another teams crappy defence......... Oh the irony.
