Jarrod Grant must be rubbing his hands together in glee

Spoke to him several weeks ago and he told me he had put on 5-6kg. Also said that the bio-mechanics expert was trying to change his running style as it currently has the potential to put pressure on certain parts of his body. I don't even pretend to understand it properly....but it wasn't the most encouraging thing I've heard.:(

Before anyone slashes their wrists, I'm not sure how serious it was.

It's not serious at all, thats why they are changing it now.

It is a complete nothing just retraining him on how to run properly.

I hope Grant will be good yet he is not going to be a Power Forward. Not big enough. Must be on his tippy toes when he got measured.
Bouman on the other hand is tall and according a few players I know has the most natural ability of all the young talls down there yet to quote a player is an absiolute w*nker. Hopefully his attitute changes as he matures.

I dont know where you herd this from, but from what ive seen Bouman is well liked, he was there with most of the 1st's watching Willie both weeks of the finals and then he was with the boys on Mad Monday ( he was on TV when Gia hugged Cooney).
Theres nothing wrong with confindence.

A Big forward has to have arrogance, as long as he's as good as he thinks he is it's not a problem, if he's shit he won't stay arrogant for long because people will be giving it to him.

Hmm. At this rate, he'll probably need at least another 2 pre-seasons before he'll be ready to hold down a key forward position on a permananet basis without fears of him snapping in two at every contest. Put him on the protein shakes, Rocket!

As for the running mechanics, you'ld be surprised how many people run poorly. Shouldn't be too big a deal, unless it's caused by some mechanical fault (eg asymmetric length of tendons, etc), in which case he'll need a team of surgeons and an exorcist, not a running coach.

Thanks for the info, AR.

Why would they want to change his running style? he is very very quick for a person of any size, but I do see the point of the bio-mechanics experts opinion that it could put alot of pressure on certain parts of his body, I think it might be the knees though! But I would think that they wouldn't want to change it too much if it makes a bit of his pace disappear.

EDIT: sorry didn't realise you were talking about Grant!

I think he'll put it on a bit quicker - another 7 or 8kg over the pre-season isn't out of the question. Should make him a possible starter next year.

Everitt would've played a lot of footy this year if his form allowed it, and they have similar builds.

Agreed people are forgetting Everitt had a fairly bad knee injury though right in the middle of preseason which kept him out for a fair while and would not do a young blokes confidence any good. hopefully he will recapture form after a big preseason though..

Listen anyone who knows me on the site I don't talk crap and I don't like to grudge people or our players that was a direct quote from a player who I know. It was not my personal opinion. On the plus side he believed he is by far the best thing down there. Not everyone mixes footy clubs are just like anything else some players get along others dont.

In hindsight it was a bit hash to wright that. Lets hope he stars, got some height on him.

This is just wishfull thinking I take it? Obviously everyone on here hopes like anything that you're right:thumbsu:

This is going from what i have seen, and he is that type of player which stands out. You have your players that are good draft picks, and then you have players like Ward & Grant that pop there head up.

Boumann had a large number of indescretions early on. Nothing too serious, just things like turning up late to training or rehab, stayed out once after curfew (but wasn't drinking), things like that.

He went through a few mentors but simply wouldn't toe the line. Eventually Johnno went mental at him and told him some home truths about what was required to be an AFL footballer.

It appears the message might have finally sunk in and he appears to have improved.

Cordy should spend 23 hours a day at Mcdonalds if he wants to play next year.

Nah i think we should give him a few games see how it goes!

So he can look like this?

I want a superstar FF as much as the next doggies fan. But let's not for get new draftees like Grant and Boumann are only 17/18 years old. They need time.

We can't judge them yet. But, we can put expectations on them. KPP or not, we can expect AT LEAST a debut from them in 09.

I may spew in a sec. I've had WAY TOO MUCh to drink.

I love the bulldogs more than anything in my life. Seriously. The performance of this team dictactes EVERYTHING about me, my attitutude to life, my work performance. I'm a loser - I'm well and truely willing to admit that. But, I'm hanging on to the fact that, after a few drinks, maybe, just maybe, my support for this team will make me a winner in 2009!

I LOVE YOU DOGGIES! (sent from a drunken londoner!!)

WOOF!

It wouldnt surprise me, but I wouldnt be happy with it either.

That would be an understatement for me, I would be pissed if the club thinks Skippper is solution to forward line, how this guy is still on an AFL list is beyond belief, he is luckier than Laycock and Ackland combined and that is saying something

I wouldnt be suprised to see Skipper lining up at FF for us. Would be great if Grant was ready to go, but I seriously doubt it.

Grant is massively miles ahead of Skipper, i will be very surprised if Skip even manages a game next year.

Grant is the answer to our forward line, and will play a major role next year.
