Once the AFL turned trade week into trade fortnight, they gave clubs the chance to dither around for another week trying to squeeze out that tiny bit extra.

If this is done before Tuesday next week, I for one will be mighty surprised.

In the meantime, here's a cracked Adam Cooney trade to keep you entertained. And bear in mind, at least one Eagles supporter thought this was Port making out like bandits.

Honestly if you took the future second out of it (which under AFL rules we wouldn't be able to trade along with the future first anyway, and North are getting enough without it), I've seen worse. Duursma for Rioli is overs, but not by as much as some on here would have you believe, and cancelled out by the two mid firsts for JHF being unders.

West Coast are actually good for this situation, ignoring the Rioli aspect. Eagles need bulk high picks because they're at the start of a rebuild and need much more quantity than quality compared to North who have already taken a bunch of top end talent over recent years.

That's why they're interested in trading pick 2 for multiple firsts. If we can get a decent second rounder for them (21/25 from Brisbane?) They will jump at that.

Bonner and a 3rd to turn into that early second I'd suggest. Leaves us to throw in 33 with pick 2 to satisfy North.

Ratugolea still up in the air. Wouldn't be surprised if we're interested in Tomlinson either based on his managers comments just now (few clubs potentially interested but doing other deals first)

Port are winners, they need to be bent over more than pick 8, a future first, a future second and a highly rated first round pick from 4 years ago. 3 firsts and a second is not being bent over. I swear people completely lose their minds this time of year. Unfortunately all of the north fans are now just trying to direct their anger at us and are just being pathetic.
If they're gonna direct anger anywhere other than themselves it should be at Hawthorn.

To use another Tarantino film analogy, they want us to be Marcellus Wallace in the Pawn Shop basement of Pulp Fiction.

They'll come for Georgy and piss in his manager's ear every year like we do with players of interest.. it doesn't mean you get them
Well already you have someone on this forum talking about dealing Georgiades. Not that it matters at all what anyone on here says or thinks they are trying to attune our thinking to the possibility of us losing Georgiades. That's why the media comes out and says we have to pay up for JHF. You don't hear them do that when Taranto goes to Richmond its all psychological conditioning to think that its right for the Vic club to get a windfall.

If roles are reversed the rhetoric would all be about us losing the player the next year in PSD so we should trade whatever to get the deal done.

Is there a chance we don't land him this year? Is there a link to the paper saying North are pulling out of talks or something?

So Horne-Francis' value last year was pick 1 and despite doing next to nothing in his debut season his value is now pick 2, a future second round pick and Xavier Duursma.

SURE MATE
As its a draft he cannot be worth more than pick 1. NM were offered a lot for that pick as clubs even then knew he was worth more.

It would be such a North thing to have a guy who clearly does not want to be there, probably playing reserves if at all, for a whole year, thus devaluing him even more and end up with less in a trade next year. That is how poorly run that club is.

The deal will get done. Ignore the media, they have to write 24/7 for 12 days.

If we have put an offer on table as good as two first rounders for a bloke that's gonna leave them, I really doubt it.

If he does stay its not the end of the world though. We go get Busslinger, and likely still pick him up next year for way less than we are offering now, and get him in under a new coach too.

‘Yeah but we can get him home now’ … S.Rowe

Don't worry about all that the media don't make the deal.

What people fail to understand (especially on the main board) is managers don't re ask the player over the trade period except in very unusual circumstances

All of Ports blue chips have said no
That's it. They dont get asked again
They dont really wanna speak to their manager this time of year

How long did Chris Davies say he waited for Dodoro to give us pick 73 as part of the Fantasia deal at that December 2020 Big Footy Focus group at the club? 4 days? In the end we didn't even use it for either points to get Lachie Jones, or draft someone with it.

Its a waste of time but some marketing genius at AFL house said but we will have media coverage for an extra week as the plebs sit around waiting for all the news. And Hutchy and his Trade Radio guys would have pushed the longer period to death.
