All the Norf talk about JHF reminds me of when a bunch of Brisbane players (including Tom Rockliff, ironically) came out before Polec's first came against Brisbane and said they were going to be sledging him about his decision to leave, and then we won by 113 points.

Also there's something private schoolboy creepy about You have to do it in front of us. Ugh.

I think it's very likely JHF was mentally checked out from early in the season. I'm sure most of us have been at jobs where we've been mentally checked out, it becomes a challenge to do anything but the bare minimum. Someone like Amon is more mature and can handle it, JHF is 19 and obviously just didn't deal with the situation well.

Norf: "Strip down and get in the bath, Jason".
Harvey staring through the window, wanking into a hanky.
JHF: "I don't want to."

To be home sick is one thing, to be home sick at the biggest sfit show of a club, with a revolving door of sackings and resignations is another.
King can whine all he likes, but JHF gets the last laugh. He's out of loser hell, at home, at the club he loves. I commend the kid for pulling the pin and not wasting another year. Life is too short.
I've messaged king on Twitter he denies there has been a media pile on 😂. And has just resorted to saying I don't know what I'm talking about at least he is willing to defend himself.
If you have Twitter send him a message.
His character assignation of Jason has been disgusting.

The reason King and the North Melbourne players are going after Horne-Francis is simple - they don’t want to admit that their attitude toward professionalism is selective, which is why North is in the state that it is in right now.

When professionalism is pervasive, it seeps into everything that the club does. Other coaches and clubs will say “X is a strong/well run club”, which is just code for “this club meets the standard operating procedures for any club that wants to win a flag”. At a professional club, doing something like having an ice bath would be seen as necessary after every game because of the effort the players had put in in the field. A natural extension of how to recover and prepare for the next game.

Instead, a so called professional team like North gets flogged almost every week on the field, putting in minimal effort and playing as though they weren’t being paid for the privilege (say what you want about Adelaide but they never turned up their toes like North did this year). You can’t expect a young player to accept the requirements to be professional off-field if the team isn’t setting a professional example on-field.

The reality is if you are not inside the walls of the place you can't know, logic would tell you it's somewhere in the middle as in fault on both sides.

We've been as big a shit truck as North are currently in recent history, football clubs go through these times, it's just the ragging on a teenager ad nauseam that rankles me a bit.. get over it and fix ya shit.

I've just gone back and had another look. They gave up significantly more for Cadman, a kid who's never played a game of AFL football and who wasn't even the consensus #1 pick, than we did for JHF and Rioli combined. Crazy.

Cadman is now the most expensive player at the trade table since Chris Judd. No pressure, kid.
They effectively gave up two picks in the 30's. That's not Chris Judd like.

The elephant in the room ofc is that Port is not the place to go if you want professionalism and the chance to win a Premiership. Could be a rocky start to his career with us too.
Hopefully, he can make us more professional and help re-ignite a winning culture and mindset among the other players around him.

Not sure if this has already been posted, but the article below discusses the deal.

North and West Coast both were concerned that Port weren't paying enough for what they were getting. But McCartney and GWS were just like 'shut up and take my draft picks' and gave the necessary picks to make the deal happen.

GWS (and the SUNS) really do not value draft picks the same way other clubs do because of the quantity they have. That is why it is good to trade with them. They hand the picks out like candy. If one of our players ever gets poached I hope they either go to the SUNS or GWS because we will make bank.

Geelong needs to win every trade to love. So it wouldn't surprise me if they had asked for a 1st rounder for Esava. I doubt it but I wouldn't be surprised. We got pick 9 for Danger in his prime at that time arguably the best big bodied mid in the comp. Pick 9 became pick 11 Wayne Milera Geelong making out like bandits yet again.

Complete rip off trade if anyone is worth x2 top 10 picks in his prime it was Patty.

I have a memory that the trade was accepted very early in the trade period, it feels more like it was Adelaide accepting less than they should.

They gave up picks 3, 12 and a future second rounder. How have you figured that one out?

EDIT: Stuffed it up the first time
1 for 3+12 is effectively giving up pick 30 when you measure by pts in vs pts out.
F2 Collingwood is pick 34 based on current ladder positions. They gave out Collingwood's pick not their F2.

They got back pick 53+57. I haven't counted them but if you do, the full ins and outs looks like

If that 18 month thing is true, then N0rf must've resigned themselves to the 2021 wooden spoon before the season started.

Cats could have taken him as a free agent. They did the crows a favour giving, them anything

The crows could have matched, which Geelong accepted they would do, so they just went straight to the trade.

I was surprised Adelaide didn't hold out for more.
