$200 for 1 or $500 for 3 if anyone wants to buy seats on the bandwagon. :p

I thought the '**** was terrific once again but i'm definitely one of his bigger defenders.

He still gets chased down far too often, but I think that awareness will come in time. Our freewheeling slingshot off of half back game style is predicated on exactly the sort of game Pittard plays, and his defensive skills are getting there.

The Hoon is another that has the hallmark of a 150+ games player.

One decent game suddenly redeems him and he's made it?!?
Yes, he played OK yesterday, but for me, he needs to string together 5-6 good games to even start thinking about jumping on his bandwagon.

Agree with El Scorcho in that he gets run down, and even just prior to the Dal Santo incident, he was dead lucky he didn't get caught. There was another incident earlier as well.

You do know that the guy chasing him was Rhys Stanley who is possibly the fastest player in the Afl. Pittard makes things happen. Some of them are good. We need him.

This. Would you guys prefer he stood on the spot and kicked it 20 metres sideways like half of our players were doing last year?

Pittard tries to take the game on. That's a rare and valuable quality in a player. It doesn't always work, but I'd rather a player who takes the game on and makes a few mistakes sometimes than a player who is satisfied to do the bare minimum when he gets the ball in his hands.

He should have realised that then and made a pass earlier.
It worked out well in the end, and his intelligence to let the ball fall out of his hands was great.

Great to see him taking the game on when nobody else will, but needs more awareness when being chased.

The shit he's copping from opposition supporters for dropping the ball when making the most of contact is so prevalent in the AFL is a bit ridiculous. Every player makes the most of contact and most players would have been happy to have the ball knocked out of their hands in that situation.

Especially when Armitage took a dive like a prizefighter with gambling debts to milk the softest of 50's in the first quarter. I guess that was 'smart play'?

I'm still not convinced about his long-term worth, but if he can use his pace and get up the field more he can be the quick-rebounder Krakouer was supposed to be.

Did that St Failda player tap the ball in Pittards hand or not?

I cant believe none of the (nausea inducing) commentators didn't take that person to task for tapping the ball.

unbelievable.

Makes the victory even sweeter.

Clearly, they hate us.

Now, they must be Shi t scared how good we might become

To who, one of their defenders?
He ****ing got us the goal that won the game.

anyone change their mind already? what a difference a week makes. kept his opponent goalless while kicking 2 himself off a HBF defended well and his attacking came off that (as kern asks). 14 kicks 5 i50's really took the game on with bounces and pace. people who said he wasnt smart well his second goal came from him outsmarting dalsanto who's played 220 more games than him. calls for spud were a bit premature i think, he could not improve and play that game every week and he would be worth it.

I will stick my hand up and say on the previous page I said he isn't a smart AFL player because he makes too many fundamental clangers and doesn't play the percentages. I did say he might be a smart person and smart analyst of the game and I have to hand it to him that bit of milking of a 50m was very clever.

The run from half back is what we have wanted him to do more often. It's the risky sort of play that he can do, but has stuffed up in the past. That's why I prefer him to play wing instead of defence because if he takes risks and stuffs up of a wing it hurts less than stuffing up in defence.

He showed he is quicker than I thought he was, and I don't reckon I have seen him run that quickly. If that is going to be his standard effort then I say lets see more that play coming off half back and the wing area. He can become an 80m player, ie carry it 30m and kick it 50m.

But he did make a bad error about 60 seconds before the last big Hoff mark in defence. St Kilda come out of defence, a kick to the wing, O'shea did a good block of the ball from his saints opponent, but it went to another saints player and then Hammer laid a big ball and all tackle. It should have been a ball up but the bloody umpires desire to let the ball flow, Jasper stood next to the 2 players on the ground, with the saints player facing up and the ball on his chest as Hammer was underneath. Young Curren decided to go in and steal the ball as there wasn't a whistle. Jasper then reacted a bit late and given the way the push in the back tackles went in the last quarter, he laid a sloppy tackle not going in low enough and gave away the free for too high and in the back.

As I said in my last post I hope he does a cam O'Shea and improves his fundamental skills. That burst of speed might be the bit of play that says he will hit the ball with more confidence. If so then he might turn into the player we want. But whatever his rate of progress, the key is cut out the clangers and keep his concentration up.

Top young player who get's down on himself. Whilst it is impossible to try "too hard", it is possible to be stiff and anxious and grind your teeth and have your mind going 19 to the dozen.

Yesterday, he seemed at peace with himself and played accordingly: he is a top young player.

Great to see him play the way he did, not going to jump on no bandwagon though. It's one game and he needs to find consistency in performances like that, if I'm ever going to shut my mouth.

i am not arguing one game redeemed him, i am arguing he didn't have to redeem himself. played under 30 games, 21yo, coming off an injury, never had a real string of games nor consistent pre-seasons. bad games or incidents come with the gig, people underrated his defensive game since he has come back, if he lacked as much accountability as some here say he wouldn't have played. the offensive part of his game was always going to be touch/match fitness.

also Rhys Stanley won a grand final sprint and the other incident i think was Jack Steven, the two fastest blokes on the opposition.

In regards to that 50m penalty: does the ball actually need to be knocked out for it to be a 50? I saw the slap as soon as it happened, and called for a 50 even before the ball dropped, as I was pretty sure any unwarranted contact after the free has been paid is a 50. Certainly dispossessing the player after the free kick is a 50, but I figure the little slap is a 50 too, since it was well after the free was awarded and play had stopped?
