Roast Jasper Pittard

His first half was good apart from one poor 1 on 2 contest. I thought he was one of our best defensively (many timely spoils and sharp handballs out of congestion).

His second half was woeful.

He still has a nice leg on him, a good turn of pace, AFL confidence, takes the game on and does more good than bad (usually).

Happy to drop him for Stevenson next week.

But still think he's a huge part of our future.

I wonder what it takes some fellow Port supporters to finally admit a player is crap and delist or trade them :/

We still have people calling Butcher the future of our football side and that Pittard will soon stand up as a great required player for the team.

I don't see either of those happening, I wish I could be smoking the optimism pipe you guys are chuffing on.

Nah. Butcher... Not so sure...

But pittard will be a champ.

Both are not where they should be at the end of their fourth years in the system.
Injuries and coaching have contributed, but neither have lived up to first round draft status. Shame.

Had enough of the vitriol and over-reactions. Do some of you guys even watch other AFL games or take interest in the goings on at other clubs? Even if you don't bother with that, there still is plenty of examples of players within Port Adelaide who have been simply written off as being "shit" but gone onto be real quality footballers. People thought the same of Mackie, Enright, Rhyce Shaw or to use examples that should be relevant after last night - go back and read Fremantle supporters opinions in 2011 about Michael Johnson and how ordinary did Zac Dawson look during first few years as an AFL footballer?

I am by no means saying that Pittard played well last night, and yes he has more than his fair share of shaky moments but the good he has done this year gets overlooked in favour of the usual chicken little mentality. Get some perspective - watch other clubs, see the progression of players that play a similar role and you might notice that not everyone is an instant success and that for most players it takes a few years of maturity and learning from their mistakes to become good AFL footballers.

Yer lets just bag the crap out of our players and call for a petition to get them run out of the club by some internet flogs.. Great idea ...you must know plenty more about football than the guys running our club.

I suppose you thought we should get rid of Cam last year, or get rid of Loobe.

And yes I am on a optimistic pipe for my football club after supporting them for 30 years and knowing that we choose the right people to make the right choices 85% of the time.

If we listened to this sought of crap we would have a Melbourne / South Adelaide like ternover and mentality.

Is that what you said last year b0ydy?

Give the fella a chance under a great coach. It is bullshit to scapegoat a player who is told to take on the game and play instinctually without having proper coaching.

Exactly , let's get on his back and make him question his abillity, we need line breakers that have the balls to take the game on.

I find that interesting that you single out Cam and Lobbe as being players "I" personally may of dropped last year.
Sure those guys have had an amazing turn around but you seem to be looking past that not all players do and it actually is more likely once a spud always a spud.

Some of the players bottom out and are droped out of the 22 and/or delisted due to form and taking too long to improve.
It is part of professional football wouldn't you say?

Pittard needs to start playing like a professional footballer

-Learn to ****ing pressure a forward

-Mark the damn ball when he is in a one on one, he can not mark for the life of him when in a contest.

-If he does take a mark [which you usually only do in the centre of the ground and then turn it over anyway] make something of it don't just spud it.

-Stop giving those sour angry faces to the opposition player whenever they mark on you, you ****ed up don't sour puss them just take the ball next time.

-Don't run straight through the centre into a mass of opposition then freak out and handball to a group 4 opposition and 2 port players.

Yeah I was shattered Mark Harwood never made it!

How does that have any relevance to what I said?

Some players come good after years of poor form, some players stay at that level for the rest of their career.

I see Pittard as a player who could be great, but he is a push over in defense and is far too sloppy with his disposal to really be a good wing player as he gets the ball from defense runs it in then hands it back to the opposition who then boot it straight back in to their 50.

He has a lot of nothing possessions and wusses out when going in for a contest with the ball.

He had the advantage against two Freo players, ball in front of him ready to grab but then chickened out at the last second and handed it over.

Pathetic weak attempt from a player in the supposed "never give up" group.

You will be proven wrong

Please remember to admit it on this forum when the time comes. For the sake of good manners to the young man.
