You will be proven wrong

Please remember to admit it on this forum when the time comes. For the sake of good manners to the young man.

If I am proved wrong I will be extremely happy, as it means we will have a better player on the team.

If he is just a spuddy next year I wonder if we will have the same "Give him another year" comments.

You will be very happy, as he will be a very good player.

Like I said, don't forget to stand by your comments in the future.

By the way, the attitude of writing off young players with the caveat of 'if they come good, ill be happy', stinks. It is fence sitting of the highest order.

People sure love to fling shit at young defenders these days.

Kudos to those defending Jasper, its nice that we generally know not to delist players after a couple of bad games. However, some people just don't realise that to create from the HBF you need to take risks, and it takes experience to know which risks to take. O'Shea proved a lot of people wrong this year to some degree, Pittard could easily do the same. The coaches are showing faith in him, sometimes you just have to trust that the coaches know what they are doing.

For those who think Jasper should have enough experience, he has played in 27 games. O'Shea has played in 42.

If you think that he should be delisted what do we do with the other 15 on our list that are not in our best 22 at the moment. By your theory we are gonna have one he'll of a turn over of players this year.

Lots and lots of trade bait then :p

In all honesty, I never specifically said he will never come good.

But I do cringe whenever Pittard gets the ball and usually it is for good reason
Just at the moment he does scare the crap out of me whenever he is trying to mark near opposition goals in a one on one.

Or takes a mark and then has to kick it to a team mate, because he usually screws it up royal.

Players we should keep:
Boak
Wingard
Wines
Monfries
Ebert
Hartlett
Schulz
Trengove
Lobbe

Everyone else - delist
I don't think you should have included Hartlett, Trengove and Lobbe in that list. They got delisted or traded a while back. :p

Pittard has to have another preseason. Get him in the weights room in mid October and tell him he has to put on another 5kgs.

He can't defend to save himself and whilst his clangers have come down since 2011 he still makes too many.

He has to be played as wing man unless he can do an O'Shea. O'Shea has shown courage since day 1 and has used his main weapon his running ability since day 1. What he has done this year is gotten stronger and smarter and more skillful. Pittard hasn't done that this year. He doesn't have the smarts to be a good defender. His positioning is very poor and he lacks strength. If he doesn't improve markedly in 2014 then we should seriously look at trading him.

He did show in the Essendon game and a couple of games around that, that when he backs himself and goes for a run then he can be damaging. But he is in the side to defend not attack. That's why playing him on the wing or half forward has to be tried by Ken

My fear is that he will make a couple of absolute howlers in the first final and it will cost us the game.

Pittard reminds me of Hoffner and/or Northeast... They carved out good, strong careers with the Magpies... Knock them early in their careers?

I'd take Northa's dogs breakfast of a kick over Jasper's faux-exocet at present.

Hoffner was strong and fast. Northeast was tough as nails and cunning. Jasper only has pace at the moment.

I hate the term spud. Absolutely dead set detest it. Whenever i see it used in a post i automatically think the poster has NFI. Cant we come up with something that has genuine relativity?

Pittard is a young kid still finding his feet. He is eager to impress and backs himself sometimes to much in his efforts to please and show. All the refining will come with age and experience but quality basics are there and they are hard to find in alot of players. I see him as a genuine WIP and cant believe he is being judged harshly. He is no Potato.

Still reckon he will be best 22 but some of the fundemental school boy errors should not be tolerated...
He will get there BMT. At present his brain thinks faster than his body reacts. He will evolve. Off the topic where do you think BMT will play next year? Sorry mods just adding a bit of monday night x as we wont be hearing much out of AFL house tonight me thinks.

I dont understand how?
I dont want any Port player to suck and be delisted, that is counter productive I'd prefer Pittard to come good and become a great player for the team.

What PAFC supporter wouldn't want that?, I just don't believe at this point in time he is really showing the team why he is an absolute lock in selection for every game.

You play the position you are put in, he is put in defense, that means you damn well defend and do your best to stop the other player marking, you dont fall 5-10 metres off them at a marking contest and then scowl at them while they take the goal straight in front.

Pittard really does not seem to be suited for the defense role but that is the role he has at this point and should play it the best he can, which personally I dont think he is.

Pittard is a 6'2" skinny young kid.
He has a great football mind, top notch endurance and very good skills.
He still lacks strength but will get stronger and because of his inexperience his skills occasionally fail when he tries to do a bit much. One must remember he is yet to play 30 games and prior to this year had only played in 14 games.

He has what you can't teach and occasionally lacks in the things that not only can be learned but come automatically with experience and a bigger body. On top of that from everything we have been told he is a great person to have around the club. Genuine first rounder without a doubt. :thumbsu:

Bmt...will be very lucky to survive the cull...and I have been very very disapointed with him...he has gone backwards theis year...his tackle count has been atrcious compared to yesteryear and his tough antics have been rare
