ok everyone sit down before reading on...

Jawai started today for the Wolves... wtf is going on with that team.

No Love, no Jefferson. Jawai is the only one left with enough bulk to hold his own under the post.

That's what is going on.

And I'm impressed with what he's been able to do when he's being given the chance.

Good on him.

:thumbsu:

Yep, i agree. He’s never going to be an All-Star Player but he has shown he can survive in the association once given a chance. I think he may end up being a good solid role player who bounces from team to team.

That would be his high watermark but I'm not sure he is there yet to be honest.

Wolves coaching staff apparently quite impressed with his application but would, unsurprisingly, like to get him in better shape.

Over/Under 399.5 career games (5/6 seasons) for Jawai?

Comfortably under. I don't wish the guy ill - after all he is a Timberwolf and working his arse off - but he isn't big enough (height) to be a legit centre and will struggle athletically as a PF. The Wolves have had one season looks at a few guys over the last couple of seasons, not big men admittedly, and they have baulked despite reasonable performances.

Chris Richard, who was a NCAA title winner with Florida and more accomplished than Jawai is a good comparison. And he is out of the league again.

I watched a fair bit of that Florida team, and Richard got picked purely because he was a Gator. Absolutely no NBA skills whatsoever other than a solid frame (though shorter than Jawai's).

I have no idea where he is now, but I'd be surprised if he even manages to get minutes for a European team. He'd be in my top 10 worst NBA players of the last 5 years.

Richard is 6'9", so slightly shorter and a little lighter than Jawai, but the comparison is that of a big man "tweener". In his NBA career it's fair to say he was "offensively challenged".

He played pre season with Chicago but didn't make the cut.
