I really doubt they match. When Dangerfield came he accepted below market value so it was an easy contract for Adelaide to match. They also had basically nothing to lose because their first rounder was after ours. By all reports we're outbidding GWS here who had already offered him all they were prepared to. And if we call their bluff and say only one pick's on the table they end up with a worse pick.

Poor Sav, he's really going to have to fight hard to get in the side now. If Jenkins was a one-year contract then they probably won't re-sign him unless he's really cheap.

We need to structure the contract so that GWS can’t match. Their cap is tight and apparently there is a gap inn$ between them and us... but that could change if say Caldwell leaves.
We need to be smart and structure it so they’re unable to replicate it - if we do that we get him for free and keep our picks.

re: Sav, I don't think it substantially changes things given it signals we're going to play two talls up forward next season. He's not really any further down the pecking order then since we've committed to only playing one this season. And we only need to think back a few seasons to remember a time when Scott loved playing a side that everyone thought was too tall.
And imagine a scenario where we play Blitz back, Stanley, Sav, JC, Hawk - how different is that to Soldo, Nankervis, Riewoldt, Lynch? Or NicNat, Allen, JJK, Darling, even Grundy, Cameron, Cox, Mihocek. So there's room for Sav if he's good enough.

i don’t think people understood what I meant. I know Hawks got very solid players to fill there holes perfectly... I’m saying they never got someone the caliber of Cameron, legit star and game changer.
Carlton has 7. Freo has 10.
I think so. Hawkins still has at least a couple of years left. Unfair to keep him if he wanted out. How does he get a regular game otherwise?

Geel were desperate for a key forward - i can remember that picture of Scarlett Ling and a few others sitting down having coffee with Rawlings trying to convince him to come to Geel . If he had of chosen Geel ( and he was a disaster at the W/Bulldogs ) then Geel wouldnt have got Ottens - they wouldnt have had the money and picks to get him

Pretty sure Hawkins and Reg will end up taking a pay cut even if small to get 2 years instead of one
