Love that we are getting cillian down to the club a bit younger than Oisin. Makes a difference if they are coming down 21 compared to 24. Much harder to pick up the game and have a meaningful career at 24 compared to 21.

World of difference
Same thing with O'Connor as well. Got him in young, helped get him up to speed and got games sunk into him at VFL til he could produce at AFL level.

Same height as both God AND The President? That's some good foundation and framework at the very least!
Yeah, there have been a few of those really dynamic players at 185cm... Isaac Heeney currently. Horne-Francis also. Bailey Smith @ 185 ! ;)

This bloke moves in a dynamic fashion, with good agility, pace and size, but it's a big question whether he can adapt to the AFL game as it's quite different. To me he looks a better prospect than O'Connor or Mullin from just from the way he moves, but that doesn't mean much at this stage.

Mullin was 22 when he arrived and is 24 now, Burke is 21... there's really not that much difference between the two, lol.

Yeah he's probably a year younger than Mullin who was delayed from joining by a year.

I also don't think there's any sign that Mullin is too old to adapt either. He looked like he was adapting to the level pretty well by the end of the year.

How many VFL (and overall footy ) games did Merrick play before his AFL debut? About 3 from memory 😅 I have never seen a player so raw and green.

“met him and Oisin back at home when they were over there recently, seeing them play and especially Oisin cause he is closer in age, it shows a pathway to know you can follow them. He also got into the team this year which was exciting, it was a journey that I could follow really."

I love the initiate to use players to recruit other players. I noticed that gryan miers was also in Ireland in October. Could be a coincidence, or maybe Andrew Mackie just sent his protege.

Clayton Oliver’s visit to stanley’s farm is another example.

It just shows how confident the club are in the culture at the moment, and how much buy in there is from the players. Especially from someone like Mullin, who after just one year must be pretty comfortable with how he’s landed based on that quote.

Great physique this bloke... Will have a higher ceiling than Mullin and O'Connor.

Will be a starting 22 player in years to come. I reckon he will play games in 2025, probably a handful too.

I'm so rapt to see the Cats for sometime now targeting the Irish Gaelic football players as it cannot be overstated, with us virtually never receiving any top-end picks from the national draft, that new talent coming into the club must come from a number of different areas to offset this on-going issue which has been brought about by our continued success as a AFL Club which is apart of clubs DNA, mindset and mantra.... and accordingly, never being a bottom six to bottom twelve club.

Recruiting young, extremely talented and athletic Gaelic Irish players has so many positives, with already a number of Irish players having played AFL at a very high level, which is so impressive and to some point understated. Furthermore, Geelong Football Club by continually recruiting Irish players, appeals greatly to these young and extremely talented Irish athletes as they very much see Geelong FC as a destination club for these young Irish Gaelic players with our new addition in Cillian Burke having already stated that fact, with knowing and speaking with Mark O'Connor and Oisin Mullin.

So let's hope Cillian can join in the ranks of other Irish Geelong players in Zach Tuohy and Mark O'Connor to whom have tasted the ultimate in AFL success by playing in the 2022 AFL premiership side but also, we still have a very young Oisin Mullin, who in his very early Aussie rules development has progressed superbly, so yeah to have Cillian jump onboard with the likes of Oisin by his side is awesome.

PS - And let's not forget the Irish girls that have joined the Geelong FC, as they are proving to be just as successful as their Irish counterparts.

You want players to be stakeholders in the club, makes them more likely to stick around and take a pay cut for the good of the organisation.
