Agreed.

I should've expanded a little more......I see his kicking as the first hurdle for him to overcome, the first building block if you will.

He gets that sorted he he brings himself into the game far more, and becomes a forward who can ruck imo. Not sure he'll ever have the game smarts to be a conduit through the middle of the ground.
He has said in interviews, he is really keen to stay at Geelong and learn to play his role as a KF , ruck etc. The fact he is so keen to learn is impressive. And that despite missing ALL finals, he still sees his role at Geelong.

You’re right it probably isn’t the best look. However if we agreed to terms under the impression we were getting him for free, what can you do? It’s not exactly what Wells and co prepared for I assume

Why and how could we or should we get a player like Cameron for free? That is bizarre imho.

Got no problem with his attitude, but that doesn't guarantee whether or not he has the ability to improve his kicking and decision making to the standard required.

I hope he makes it. I can see him as someone who might; or someone who frustrates us forever.

Or he might be someone who becomes a dominant force against us. The decision regarding Sav's future is one of our greatest challenges. I want to keep him.

Yeah, I'd be happy to give him another year and see if he can make some improvements in his skills and game nous.

Thats fine and admirable but ..... I want to see a technical change in his kicking. I can only say what Id do. get a coach and get the best version of my kicking that I can develop.

I listened to a Jobe Watson story.. about being told he was going to get cut if nothing changed in the next 12 months. Tim organised a running coach and conditioning coach. I think Tim McGrath did something similar with sprint coach. There are several example of players improving ordinary kicking Lowie at Stk comes to mind. Hawkins has at least worked on it although he is an example of why I hold concerns that Sav will struggle. Hawk is a very good kick thru the middle of the ground. One could make the case about him an Mooney but both were technically far better kicks than Sav in play , watch them at train running drills on the run, the have a hand to foot coordination that I dont see in Sav.

There are some good kicks at the club , there are some excellent kicks that could be hired to coach him but it seems pretty consistant that the best of anything come to the club like that. Blitz was a great runner when he came to the club. Duncan a very good kick. Selwood a great footballer. They can all add to their core talent to certain degrees.. its to be determined if Sav can add to his fantastic marking in a quick enough time..because his spring will not be something he can rely on for ever. Hawkins was a high marker too but is no more. I think back on some of the dire kicks we have had at the club Johnson, Kingsley ..did any get much better. Sav has a huge opportunity what he has is very rare..can he develop a much more common, a much more core skill is the question I have.

Josh Walker mark2 as a forward, Walker was a better kick,Sav a marginally better ruck.

A lot of it is in front of Sav now.. its on him. Work ethic is needed - not saying its not there - but the words that he wants to fight his way back in is encouraging.

The ceiling is quite high IMO - we've seen the highlights - but now its time and work from him. Get better everyday and make it all count.

Im a massive Kruger fan and want to see him get a go but the natural talent ceiling on Sav is way higher IMO. Hope they both come good.

I believe in Free Agency, what we have is a half pregnant approach to it. I believe we should start with the ideal that once a player is OOC he is free to choose where he want to live and work ..and then add some restriction based on competitive balance like 3 years after drafting and maybe Rfa after 5 years..

Did Rich get Lynch for nothing?. Did the Swans get Buddy for nothing? I can see why Geelong would thing it was possible that we could get him for zero. Id also say I could see why they should have been prepared to trade for him.12 months ago GWS were GF team and a team in the GF gets a lot less compensation than a bottom team, so to a degree they should have been prepared.

To say to a small number of player that you are different to everyone else becuase you earn more is so descrimatory.

Some people are just plain thick.

At this point Parfitt should just **** with them. They've been told clearly, politely and bluntly that hes not interested so he should at least get something out of it for their persistent annoyances.

Parfitt should go tell Wells and co not to worry and anything that happens in the next 24 hours is total BS.

Then Parfitt calls GWS and asks for a private charter to Sydney , a few surf and turf dinners around Sydney then a charter back to Geelong.

Of course its all BS and the journo bloggers will blow themselves up over it but if Parfitt is going to be continuously dragged back into it he might as well get something nice from it.

Wonder if they'll offer him as car, as Carlton did with Saad

Play him in the VFL for a year to hone his skills. Should have done that last year.

I think they tried to give him some 'accelerated learning' but yes, perhaps tbey should ease him through the VFL first.

Anyhow, we better get back OT or the mods might give us a lesson 😯😂

He will be then something like Dangerfield who constantly frustrates.
Most of his game is A Grade but his kicking is C Grade.

As long as we keep it close to topic all good

If Cameron does make his way to the club, it could be good for Ratugolea - it gives him another experienced key forward to work with & learn from, while also meaning he likely spends more time in the VFL putting things into practice

My take is GWS are actually trying to shut negotiations down and not lose Cameron. They will just demand something too high and say it fell through. If Jeremy really wants to get here he will have to threaten the nationall draft like others have, but his maager is out there saying Geelong or GWS. He got the money in the end and it's not front or back ended.

Silver lining is the rest of the GWS playing list will be fair game now, half their cap is in 5 players now. Josh Kelly will be handy next year as a FA.

If I was Wells I’d be calling their bluff. They may be able to afford his contract but it will stuff their cap up in terms of both attracting any decent players or with retention of existing young players (see Coll - Treloar).
He has to agree to stay right? I reckon JC would take his chances in the Draft if we could maybe move up in the draft to ease any concerns about vultures coming in.
