It would be interesting if Geelong got to pick 6 and there is a draftee they wanted but didn't think they could get, would they really want to use that pick on Cameron

I would have offered $5m over 6 years, in the following structure:
2021 (28 years old) - $1,000,000
2022 (29 years old) - $1,000,000
2023 (30 years old) - $900,000
2024 (31 years old) - $800,000
2025 (32 years old) - $700,000
2026 (33 years old) - $600,000
Accounts for his ability (both his career-best 2019, and his career-worst 2020), age, and likely eventual decline.

Crucially, the Cats have agreed to part with pick 13 and 15, in return for Cameron.
But Geelong wants a pick back, and that part of the deal is still being negotiated as both clubs are looking to fiddle with later picks.
Player exchanges in the deal, in addition to Cameron, have been all but ruled out.
With pick 13 and 15 the Giants will have an opportunity to trade down for a lower pick either tonight or on draft night.

I get why they knocked them back. Agree Constable is quality but GWS list is covered for mids,(which also ruled out fogarty, and Narkle is pretty speculative at this stage)
Love that the cats fans have come sooooooo far that this is now what was gonna happen all along.
I tend to agree though, I thought it would be 13+15+future second but 13+15 should get it done.

Lol so cats fans celebrating after complaining we shouldn’t of matched.
2 firsts if they are the cats 1st two can be fair and would be fine in the end.
Not overly happy but it’s better than a single pick 12 as compensation.

Who do you think leaked that to the media. I have $1.01 odds it was Geelong.

Wouldn’t call any senario GWS lose Cameron a win for the club, but I get your point.

Can relate. We got basically the same for Ablett, we had no choice and no power, no negotiation even. We won a flag the next year. Both the picks we had were used in trades down the line and today one has got us Brandon Parfitt outright and the other was used in the trade to get Zach Tuohy to the club.

General Giant, GWS were well within their rights to get a better result/deal than compensation pic but given there was no chance of the Giants letting Cameron go for nothing, they in the end had no choice but to negotiate with Geelong and the Geelong FC was in same boat, as they were committed to Cameron, the trade was always going to happen but it also must be remembered what comes around, goes around in this World, so I do believe that both clubs have set a healthy benchmark of respect when they undoubtedly will do future trades with 'each other'.
