Hine pulled the trigger on Young because he rated him in his first draft when he was soley a recruiter.
I love what Hine has done drafting wise, but he is a terrible list manager.
I'd like to see White on a wing

I think it's a great idea. This rumour starting to gather some steam with talk being a swap for Kennedy (unclear whether pick exchange would also be involved). If it was a straight swap I don't mind this.. Reckon Kennedy has real potential but has struggled at AFL level. Howe's salary my biggest concern.
Interested in what others think.

I think he's a good list fit and a better performed player than Kennedy (in a different position of course). This rumour starting to gather some steam with talk being a swap for Kennedy (unclear whether pick exchange would also be involved). Also, it's a team of people who do the list management and drafting. Not just Hine.Saying he's a bad list manager is poor. What he is is bad at identifying established talent, however this 'evidence' has been offset with the receuitment of Varcoe and Crisp both of which have blossomed here (although I guess Crisp wasn't so established and is still young). Hine is top class at the trade table, and that's indisputable.
So footy players get on the piss together in Bali and that is confirmation of a trade. If that was the case Martin from the tigers would have been with us years ago.AFL Draft, Trade, Free Agency, List and General News
Melbourne and Collingwood are set to negotiate a deal that would see Jeremy Howe and Ben Kennedy trade places according to 1116 SEN.
Howe is catching up with Collingwood senior coach Nathan Buckley, skipper Scott Pendlebury and a raft of other senior Magpies in Bali this week
Kennedy has told the Pies of interest in a trade to Melbourne for more opportunity.
The Roos and Suns remain interested in Howe.
Sending him to the midfield is ridiculous. Using him as a specialist small forward who can play tall seems more sensible. If anyone is any good down back or in attack they get stuck in the mid-field. Why? Elliott is nowhere near as effective paying midfield as forward.
I wouldnt mind getting Howe cheaply if the draft is as weak as so many people think. However, i have to be honest and say i do not rate him.
Don't discard it to quickly. Varcoe met up with Bucks last year which got him coming to us. Seems like Bucks is holding the interviews from his Bali office which is less in the public eye than the Holden Center. So footy players get on the piss together in Bali and that is confirmation of a trade. I would be very keen on getting Howe to be honest. Send Dees the pick 24 we get from them for mine. Moore, Cloke, Howe, Elliott and a couple of mids floating through it would be handy. Really just lacks a small fella with genuine speed and goal sense.
White can be justified but Lynch and Young were awful decisions. You don't get free shots with list management, there is always harm with recruiting multiple screw ups.
Young was always injured at Hawthorn. He wasn't a bad luck story - exactly what happened is what many of us said would happen.
Lynch was clearly finished and was a complete waste of time. These weren't poor decisions in hindsight, large segments of our supporter base could see these were bad decisions from the outset.
White is an argument for another time but in the context of interest in Howe, it suggests that our club believes that it can turn around mentally weak players. This is potentially arrogant and reckless list management. We don't need to be taking risks at this point.

Kennedy is about 5th/6th in line for an insider midfield role at the Pies and will struggle to crack a game all year. He has next to no goal sense despite what others claim in here so as a forward he is not very good.
Howe can play forward, is dangerous and a good kick. I don't think he can be left alone or zoned off too much by his defender.
He's a bit of a flaky player so I don't expect too much from him but I do think he can be useful (more so than Kennedy).
So for the right price ($ wise) it's a yes from me.
