Opinion Jesse White as a Tall Crumbing Forward

It's not a case of White or Moore. It's a case of White or Grundy/Witts/Cox as the third tall.

and Then White is being Grundy and Witts and Depends on how Cox's has Improved over the Pre-Season as at time Cox did look good at VFL Level

Everyone is saying that we have no Crumbing Forwards.

So I was thinking how White get his Goals. There are not normal from Marks - Normally by ball hitting the Ground or a Drop Mark that he Runs onto and Kicks a Goal from Them.

So IF he get's AFL Game Time his best Postion could be as a Crumbing Forward. Also he can Play Ruck and keep Moore out of the Ruck for a Year of 2.

Moore is Ahead of White as a Tall Forward

Agree?
I dont think its as bad an idea as some people are making it out to be.

I dont think he could play as a fulltime small forward type role, however he has shown he can crumb and take a grab, and maybe it wouldnt be half bad to have him as a utility in the forward line. Not used as a lead up player but also not taking the spot of another tall.

I could see him a problem for some teams if he was to fill the spot of a smaller forward and the other team was forced to play their equivalent of our langdon or oxley or Sharenberg on him.

At the end of the day cant be much worse for his goal scoring than where he is at now

And they'll have field days rebounding off him.

White should have kicked 30 goals for the season but got dragged for four games late because he was consistently kicking goals.

Blair was dropped at the same time played in the VFL the next week out of position, played in the midfield (Blair gets smashed in the midfield at Afl level) in windy conditions ideal for short people and wins his position back in CFC Afl team.

Blair goes on to kick 4 goals in five games. When White returns he kicks 4 in two games. Go figure. I would prefer White as a crummer any day.

Have you ever considered, maybe there is more to AFL then kicking goals? That White was dragged and Blair was brought in because of other elements to their respective games.

He's a forward.
Forwards are supposed to kick goals
He kicked goals.

Cloke kicked fair few more goals then White but yet you criticize him for "not kicking goals"

I don't mind 27 goals if he had other elememts to his game like competitiveness and work rate but he doesn't so 27 goals isn't enough if the the only thing he provides is goals.

White was dropped because of trying Hard Enough and Missing Important Goals

What are you on about?

What are you on about?

Sorry, I got you mixed up another poster.

Anyways my point wasn't that he doesn't kick goals. My point is he doesn't kick enough goals to warrant playing him because of his weaknesses.

White could kick 40 plus goals and people would complain.

Yes they will, but it won't be the goal kicking their complaining about.

Its bigfooty, everybody complains about something. Thought you'd be used to it by now.

If he kicked 40 goals that would be enough for me, but he'd have to have a lucky Jack Anthony year to do that.

not good enough when that's the only thing he does.

Luckily he was also doing ruckwork then. I agree with others he wasnt that terrible last season and thay he is much maligned. Regardless with the development of Moore and Grundy/Witts he will have his work cut out for him. (Not to mention the return of Reid who looks like playing back but could play forward, along with the arrival of Howe who is another third tall forward option)

Grundy is an automatic selection and Cox will need another year so its Witts vs White on a horses for courses basis.
Grundy is not an automatic selection.

I think Witts actually had more upside than Grundy and will start pulling away as our first choice this year. A good problem to have.

Hence why also 27 goals isn't enough.
