Opinion Jesse White as a Tall Crumbing Forward

Grundy is not an automatic selection.

I think Witts actually had more upside than Grundy and will start pulling away as our first choice this year. A good problem to have.

In my opinion Grundy is an automatic selection. Will disagree with you on that point. Alhough he may be rotated out from time to time for development reasons.

I agree Witts is also loaded with potential. We need to try and persevere with both of them in the 22. The short term pain will be worth the long term gain.

For mine I think our best combination is Grundy Witts in ruck and Moore Cloke forward, with Reid ( defence) or White (VFL) as options.

Hence why also 27 goals isn't enough.

The second ruck (whoever he is) will not kick 27 goals next year. Its quite likely Moore wont either. Reid could but it seems hes earmarked for defence.

White is not under pressure because he only kicked 27 goals. Hes under pressure because Grundy/Witts/Moore all have better upside.

Because the second ruck this year will spend allot more time in the ruck than White did last year, and actually show some competitiveness.
White's tank and acceleration are more suited for that 2nd ruck/3rd tall then our genuine rucks.

The role he was recruited for and hopefully can play for the first time since being at the club.

The reasons for him being recruited were more relevant in 2014 than they will be in 2016. He is now not the only one who can play that role.

Witts and Grundy are another year progressed and Moore has arrived at the club. Not to mention Reid is finally fully fit, something has hasnt been in Whites time at Collingwood.

No. Moore shouldn't be anywhere near the ruck. White has the ability to play that role and he can.

I would prefer to play two rucks (Witts and Grundy).

We need to give Witts an extended run at it.

Agree we gave the Grundy/Witts combination a good run last year until we had to give up on it, but need to persist again in 2016.

With Reid back at least we will have a plan B if our big lumbering rucks prove to be too slow on the day. We didnt have that plan B last season.

Everyone is saying that we have no Crumbing Forwards.

So I was thinking how White get his Goals. There are not normal from Marks - Normally by ball hitting the Ground or a Drop Mark that he Runs onto and Kicks a Goal from Them.

So IF he get's AFL Game Time his best Postion could be as a Crumbing Forward. Also he can Play Ruck and keep Moore out of the Ruck for a Year of 2.

Moore is Ahead of White as a Tall Forward

Agree?
Nope can't kick.

personally l don't think Grundy is ahead of witts at this point, more even money
but the nab games will tell us how they going and which way the coaches see it.
at the start of last season if honest most would have taken 27 goals who relieves in the
ruck and 2nd tall, who had to fill in at that role as well.
Jessie will never be the main man, not his go
would like to see him on the ball, bit like a ruck rover of old
but will struggle to get a game at times

I actually like this idea too. I would be inclined to try and play him as a big (really big) mobile type. In some respects I think the guy is maligned. I dont think he is a key position player, but I do think he can run and I do think he could terrorise oppositions if maybe we were to give him some sort of running role - maybe a wing/big? - and just get him to run around making a nuisance of himself.

Also sort of agree on the Grundy Witts debate. I think in the longer term (with both of them knowing what they are doing) you could easily get away with playing them both in the same side (and I suspect it could seriously upset oppositions, and particularly if you could get Mason Cox to be the backup option on a permanent 2 man big guy setup), but at the moment with them both in development phase playing them both carries some serious risks [particularly against sides which could exploit them]. But I do think both in the side is an idea worth persisting with (and I was extremely glad they didnt trade Witts or draft Kreuzer over the off season).

Hes definitely maligned and good enough to be an AFL footballer. But with our list with our collection of young ruck and key foward/half forward options, hes going to be challenged this year. But things can change in an instant. Moore may not come on as quickly as we all seem to be demanding, the Grundy/Witts combo may not work, or Whites form may improve to the point that he demands selection. He actually dosen have to improve that much...he just needs to close the gap between his best and his worst.

Its a good problem. At worst hes very good depth.

I dont think hes in our best 22 but I wont be suicidal if he proves me wrong.
