It's not even a certainty that they would have diagnosed his condition (compression of the arteries behind the knees) even now.
If he stayed at North, there's every chance he's still getting around in debilitating pain and the public are questioning his attitude again.

An interesting observation from the media rounds the last week or so.

The highlights shown of JHF are him bullocking away from stoppages with 2 blokes hanging off him, getting clearances at crucial moments and driving the ball inside 50.

The highlights shown of Sheezel are just lateral kicks across half back which end up being rather inconsequential unless you play AFL Fantasy. Really thought there would be more to his game than this.

Everyone knows Afl fantasy is life.

Not sure you really answered the question, but anyway.

His on-field demeanour was only highlighted because D King was so fastidious about reporting his actions in the media. On field disagreements with players and not having the effort or energy to chase has happened at football clubs for a hundred years.

We live in free democracy and supporters, football clubs, or companies don't own or make peoples life choices.
It was quite clear from the get-go he never wanted to be a part of your club, and North were well compensated in last year’s draft.
So, I don't really see what all the hoo-ha is about, it's just feeble school yard type stuff.

The way some North lot are carrying-on, it's like he must have been got caught sleeping with the captain’s wife or something.

The whole “JHF was always returning home” is a narrative being driven by north supporters to make it seem like their club did no wrong. In reality, he was originally happy to go there, but when he realised it was a step down from South Adelaide, he couldn’t get out of there fast enough.

Imo he would still be in Victoria, perhaps even signed a new contract, if he had been drafted to Richmond (had north accepted their offer).

Port finished up the top of the ladder in 2021 so had nothing in the bank to trade.
They were after height and got Finlayson for a burnt pie and drafted Sinn at 12 who's yet to make his debut due to injuries.

Western Bulldogs and Collingwood had father & son picks, so they were always going to match bids to get Darcy and Daicos.
Outside of Daicos, JHF was the best player in the draft, so it was worth North taking the punt to draft him.

Sure, he might have shafted North, but I liken the scenario to N Buckley. He didn't want to play with the Bears and chose to stay at PA in the SANFL for a season, which got him a premiership.
Eventually he signed for one year with Brisbane on a deal that he could go to the club of his choice once his contract was up.

Like I mentioned, North was well and truly compensated for the JHF trade.
So, I can't see what all the kerfuffle is about amongst the Kangaroo supporters and media personalities like D King.
