Preuss looked better than Goldy, but you aren't going to make Goldy number 2? Daw and Preuss would be almost level pegging at the moment but the big guy has had a great pre-season and Daw played his first game for the year. Maj can hurt people as well as evidenced last year. I am not sure Preuss could be a consistent forward with Goldy rucking 80% of the time minimum. Majak is more flexible at this stage and his patch at the end of the season showed why.

Wouldn't make Goldy number 2 but Preuss leading patterns to get hit up on the lead looked a lot better than Daw's. And I am not judging Daw on this preseason but on 5 years! Plus Preuss is generally a better ruckmen when he has to be rolled into the centre to give Goldy a chop out.

Sure takes the occasional screamer but he's usually just running around te ground a bit lost.

Maj's looked good against the Crows in the finals. lets see the final game before making a decision but Maj would want to pull the finger out a little.

Here are the locks for rd 1 in my view:

Williams Tarrant Mc Donald
EVW Durdin Thompson
Atley Cunnington Clarke
Rat Brown Higgins
Waite Daw Thomas
Goldy Swallow Ziebell
Gibson (doesn't matter if you want him or not, he will play)

So 3 spots left in my estimation.

I'm not J-Mac's biggest fan, but I think he's best 22. Presuming you forgot him.

Lol Hawks supporters.

"We had far more class out of the team today than North did"

Is that factoring in the nearly 2k games worth of experience we lost in the off season?

They'll be right once they slot Mitchell and Lewis back into the 22.

Simpkin, jesus.

Should trade Preusz for 2 first rounders.

Ziebell and Cunnington out of the 50 should have been done years ago.

Hrovat makes us better.

Not worried about Goldy, he needs the miles under his belt before he hits form. His tapwork was still better than anybody on the ground.

Glad we didn't pick up Vickery.

Spud Mac was good defensively.

Atley looks free and happy, not downtrodden and broken.
Arden, Can I just say that your comment on Swallow, kicking like a man with "prosthetic legs" could quite possibly be the "Quote Of The Year", i've only just stopped laughing, whoops there i go again.

Won't play Rd 1. Just can't see where he fits if we invest in the running game and keep Ziebell, Swallow and Cunners in the team.
Haven't watched the game as yet, so probably talking out of turn, BUT Froggy can do everything that Swallow can and most things better, he hasn't Swallows experience, I know that, but with this new group, I don't see where he fits in. To be brutally honest, he could/will drag the standard down, particularly with ball usage and we can no longer carry those types of players.

Dumont's game being incredibly underrated in here. His kicking around the ground is fantastic. He times his handballs perfectly to give his teammates as much space as possible. Also covering the ground a lot better.

Hibberd was good. At ground level his workrate was fantastic. Bit scrappy, but he found the footy and used it well on occasions.

Zuhaar is going to be a gem. Speedy,
Nuggets and uses the footy well. Looks like a natural footballer.

Simpkin is going to be very special. Has that vision and agility to find space and time. Little bit pendelbury like. Good skills too.

Pruess firming for round 1 ahead of Daw for mine. Can't let games like that go unrewarded. He uses his body so so we'll in the contest!

Mountford, EVW and Durds all play round one. Gibson, Swallow out.

Not to mention we were without Blight, Greig and Cable.

I went to the game asked where you buy tickets from was told it was sold out . Only 6000 tickets . Watched a little from the city end then went home . Why didn't they make more tickets available . Not happy !

Well Cunnington and Froggy are the only two that I can call out to actually handball the ball properly. Our side has some atrocious handballing but these two are very good. Jmac isnt bad at it too.

Thomas was grouse when he was around the footy in the first half
Post-game Panther points: Volume 2
  • Lindsay Thomas around the ball is EXCITING. How good did he look?! He's fit and flying.
This. Highlight of the game for me. While the commentators fapped over JOM, Lindsay was so slick in the middle in that first quarter. giantroo if you're up for it, I'd love to see the highlights. Smart and executed well by hand and foot. In the second half, the skid/fall down, then handball off was clever too. Demeanour also seemed what we've wanted for a while now too; it's like it's clicked that he's part of the older brigade and just went about it.

But what did the commentators say (on another occasion), "Lindsay tried to duck into that one." or similar. The commentating to expectations and draft pick status ground my gears.
