SPP was always going to be a bolter, has a ready-made body for AFL.
I think he'll be the kind of player who grows from good to great, whereas Venables will start from a lower base but has massive ceiling.
I have faith in Dustin Venables.

Venables willing be doing well to be a better player than Darling or Wines.
I love jack and I see some improvement in him. Could very much become a 50-60 goals kpf but when he started he was compared with Wayne Carey. I just can't see Jack turning that way.

Maybe. Could see him kicking 55-60 but he will always need a genuine number one tall in the side.

Interesting with Butler. Do they not see him as best 22 now? Surely they would want at least 2 games into him.

Nelson ahead of Butler then?
Surely we drop a tall out of the backline and one of the 3 rucks. I would see how Giles and Petire go. I would drop Emac for Schoey.
Assuming the best 22 from round one comes from that squad (seems unlikely Lycett or Duggan will come straight back in without playing a JLT game), I'd cut Petrie, Masten, Redden, Mackenzie and either Cole/Nelson depending on performance
With a little run of injuries I think its just a smarter way to build some minutes into him. If they play him in JLT3 and R1 hes expected to do big minutes and that is not the best approach coming off a hamstring injury, especially at the start of the season when we have a stacked midfield.
When he has a good block of minutes and shows some form he will be back in the side.

Kicked 53 goals in just his second season, with Lecras ACL and Kennedy being out most of the season.

Yeah maybe, hard to tell. Maybe they have Nelson slightly ahead of Butler, but they want Nelson to perform well enough to win the spot. They know what they will get with Butler.
Impossible to tell though. Surprised both Nelson and Butler both aren't playing.
