Didn't you hear the latest news? We will be found out and already have a premiership hangover.

I heard that the season was over. The Dees, Tigers, Saints, Pies, Bombers, Freo, Port and North all made finals. Not only did we get found out but Bevo got fired for not changing our outdated game plan. All the young guys left because T Boyd has the entire 2017 salary cap in his wallet and stopped buying coffees.
Let's hope we can recover by February 2018 or that season will be over too!

And this year the umps will refuse to give us all the charity frees we got last year, and every handball will be called a throw.
so we will kick our ways out of contests

Priority 1 - we needs to find Stringer a serious girl friend so he can refocus on his football.

We can win a flag in 2017 without Stringer firing at his best. But with a focused Stringer - it would be joyous.
Surely Dunk's will do the right thing and handball his lady friend to the Package. Unselfish Football.

That's an incredibly unselfish offer there Hoges. We need more humble people with such altruistic motives like yours around here.

If only I didn't have this nagging feeling that maybe it's you who'd be getting the two cherries, not the club ...

Nah mate, no idea where that feeling comes from. My motives are without question purely for the club only....

Ive got a different take on this. Our best defender and All-Australian last year was Matty Boyd. He excelled in previous years as a full time mid before transitioning to the back line under Bevo and having a career best year at that. Boyd is that good because he does not get beaten in a contest. He learnt that at the coal face.

Webb is learning to contest and win the ball. That kind of skill is a requirement all over the park.

yes, I think this is really good training for a young talented player. I still think Webb can make it, though it will be a tough ask given the comp. but he could well go back to the backline a la MBoyd.

Folks,

Be mindful that we do have some club representation on this board, so it would generally be appreciated if we could keep comments directed at our women's team tasteful in the process.

Thanks

Good thing I only said "court" then! :D

Alright you pack of conceited circle jerks - we've had our time in the sun over the summer. We have all by now experienced the new found respect from our work peers and friends who support the other 17 struggling opposition teams.

We have stood at the mountain top and enjoyed the view, the fresh air, the supremacy and bathed in it.

Summer is over on Tomorrow - we've had our break and we want more cups and flags.

So let's fire up boys
I'm going have my half gympsy sister sacrifice a few chickens tomorrow night.

I want MD here challenge the rights of everyone to be in our 22 including the Bont.

Now lethargy no complacency
I declare war on season 2017
We are bigger we are a little older we are stronger and this is our time

Put on the face paint and let's get going on the rd of back to back.

Libber if your reading this - switch on - you have another level to go - and snap Stringer in to shape - his time is now too

This is our time.

Yes it is only pre-season, and yes teams try new tactics and change things during games but i can't help but be impressed by the way we have finished off the three JLT games this pre-season.

We are meant to be running a month behind in terms of fitness given we won the premiership, but if you look at how we have run out the games this pre-season it doesn't seem like we have missed too much of the training load compared to other teams.

I haven't gone through an in depth analysis buy if you purely look at scoring shots in the final quarter of all three games it is quite amazing how well we have finished.

4th Quarter Scores
JLT1 - 1.1.10 (12 Shots)
JLT3 - 1.1.6 (8 Shots)
JLT4 - 2.7.3 (12 Shots)

Obliviously it is not ideal being 49 points down in a game and inaccuracy does really hurt you but i am confident that no matter the circumstance we will finish off strong and give us every chance of winning.

What did you guys like and dislike about the three games this year?

1. LIKED
Clokes presence up forward. He seems to have stripped a lot of weight, and he's moving around like he did back in 2011. Seems like a whole new player.

2.
Stringer is back folks. With the news of the breakup coming to light, it's obvious why he wasn't himself last year. Now with it in the media it seems the weight is lifted off his shoulders. I can't wait to see what he produces this year.

3.The return of Bob!

DISLIKED

1. Our ruck stocks have taken a huge hit. Losing roughy was bad. Losing Campbell was even worse. We are very depleted right now.

2. KPD depth. Hogan had a day out week 1, and last night Lynch shred us. Bringing back Morris will help, and I really like what I'm seeing from Roberts but we need Adams to step up.

3. Was hoping Adams and Dunkley would have taken the next step and cemented a spot in our side. (I know it's harsh to say for second year players)

4. Bonts man bun.

Liked:
- Cloke
- Stringer
- Suckling
- Seeing Murph and Crameri back
- Dahlhaus
- McLean
- Dale in JLT2
- Cordy in JLT3

Disliked:
- Defence in general
- Poor form of a lot of our fringe players (Williams, Dunkley, Honeychurch, Webb, Adams)
- Roarke injury
- Ruck injuries
- Questionable hairstyle decisions by numerous players

Liked: Stringer having 26 touches last night, Suckling looking damaging. McLean looks like he's gone to another level. Bob and Crameri back out there adds some composure and versatility. The last quarter last night generally was very exciting.

Disliked: Our defence has left far too much space for oppo forwards to wander into unchecked and Adams and Roberts have not looked good under high balls. Last night Roberts looked like he'd spent summer at the Michael Talia College of Spatial Awareness and Body Positioning.

We've done it on the back of H&A season rotations, not the extra rotations teams are allowed during the JLT series. Another positive.

Dislikes:
  • none of the 'fringe' players have shown enough improvement thus far to force their way into the team
  • Adams either looks underdone, not fully committed, or not good enough - but not going to right him off, may just need more match practice
  • oppositions still kicking many easy goals 'out the back'
  • starting the season with several injured players
  • Toyd still not clunking marks he gets his hands to when up forward
  • Key Backs need all the help they can get because they aren't very strong in the contest
Likes:
  • Whitten Oval as a revitalised hub of all things Western Bulldogs
  • signs that Bev has things well under control in his planning
  • Bont getting on the park - thought for a while he may have been more injured than publicised
  • I'm still walking around with a bit of a swagger making it obvious I'm a WB Premiers supporter
