"Rioli has since fled the Eagles' touring party in Melbourne ahead of the club's semi-final against Geelong on Friday night and returned to family and friends in the Northern Territory."

Seriously... fled?

I wouldn't read too much into the statement. I think everyone had accepted that something had happened - 'lil mistake' doesn't tell us anything.

So thats that then. Going to plead guilty to get a lighter sentence?
That's not my perception. From what has been reported it's almost impossible to deny he tried to cheat the test. I don't think he can deny this.

There's no indication what his mitigating circumstances are. If there is in fact a second sample and it comes back void of any PED trace then he's got a strong case. "sorry i tried to cheat the system but as you can see, I'm not a drug cheat."

Depends if the penalty for avoiding the test is the same as testing positive which im not sure but either way very serious.

Very big penalty for panic and stupidity, murderers get less.

One paper has printed its a mandatory 4 year ban for tampering. Even if his other sample comes up clean? The guy may have panicked thinking it was an illicit drug test. Sure he did something stupid and sure he should cop 6 - 12 months suspension but 4 years for not understanding and having no reading?

I find that quite ridiculous as people who are testing positive to banned drugs get less.

We won't know until we know.

Also, why does it take so bloody long? Murray at the Pies tested positive and it took over a year to sort out.

Is the AFL investigation starting now or will it wait till after the finals?

AFL aren't doing anything, they are awaiting ASADA.
