Would not accepting the medal, have over time, raised Cotchins and Mitchell's standing? Or is that noble silliness?
Why would they not accept It? That's nuts.

The winner found guilty of doping, in sport the honour is passed down to second. I don't understand why anyone would want a different result. They deserve their medals, just a shame they don't get the big hooplah around it. Not to mention the dollars!

Good on Jobe for handing it back. Should have been done the day the last appeal was called.

And just think, if the AFL had any sense of decency, any strength of character, this would have been over years ago. Just ask the rugby guys.

So Watson wants an extra $1million compensation from Essendon due to being stripped of the Brownlow... does this make sense to anyone else? He was awarded 30 Brownlow votes while on Performance Enhancing Drugs. If not on PEDs, logically he most likely would have polled less and not won the award in the first place.

Jobe Watson will be out for all the money he can squeeze. Fair enough, too.

I bet every day he wonders why he didn't do anything about the programme he claimed that he'd lost faith in whilst he was still swapping sms' with Dank about his injection regime.

Yeah, drug cheat gets caught, and now wants to blame everyone else, and make a profit from it. Seriously, can any of these muppets take any responsibility for their own actions. But, we keep getting told about all this integrity they have, and how they weren't complicit. What a joke.

Well done Jobe.

Is is cute however how the AFL chose not to investigate the ten other clubs at the time who were running injection programs with little to no governance.
The line keeps getting blurrier.

"No single point of control" is now "little to no governance".

Agreed and usually never do, but just feel the need to speak out against flogs who constantly post ridiculous and contradictory statements while pushing their own agenda all at once

If you replace the word 'post' with 'say in interviews', you have the precise reason I started speaking out against Essendon 4 years ago.

My thoughts Exactly as well, the front page of the Herald Sun emblazoned with JW and "Honour without Glory" made me wanna puke! Obviously word came down that either JW hands it back so to all he looks like a HERO, or be
stripped and be labeled forever as a CHEAT.

Just another drama queen saga in the long history of AFL political Bullsh!t.

Yup, the nepotistic AFL, who have complete control of the media (do as we say, or you'll lose your access, etc). It's pathetic, it really is.

It would be memorable, but probably is noble silliness. Either way they would have nothing on this guy:

No-one on bigfooty will know who that is.

Didn't the WADA findings show his last injections were in April of 2012 so he actually wasn't on PED's all year at all

Would have thought they could just move Mitchell straight into Watsons spot the centre.
I think the AFL have dug themselves a hole by only treating him the same as a suspended player and as such a suspended player can still make the AA side.
My understanding in regards to the Brownlow is that Watson's name will still appear at the top of the votes list but with an asterisk next to it. Would of made more sense to strip all votes off him I would of thought

Once again the AFL show themselves to be a complete joke. It wasn't up to Jobe to give back the medal (and I can understand his reluctance to do so). It should have been stripped the day the last appeal was extinguished. Would have then had about 40 less articles discussing the situation and everyone could have moved on a month earlier. But no the AFL decided to pull the bandaid off slowly.

Now we have people arguing whether Jobe should be in a side most people can't remember. Will drag things out for another month.

Jobe Watson was tested in January 2012 and 12 July 2012. Watson hadn’t been injected before February 2012 and refused to be injected by the end of April.Consequently, he cannot be accused of failing to fill out his drug control form correctly, like CAS claimed.

The drug control form claims you must list all the drugs with in the last 7 days, he filled it in correctly.

So why did Watson (and the leadership group) go to Hird on the 16th of January asking about the injections if he did not get injected before February?

Seems to me he was getting injected in January, if so what did he list on his DCF at that time?

Go and ask Benny McDevitt who refuses to provide exact dates of the testing of the 15 players who were tested in 2012. I'll repeat, only 15 players were tested in 2012 according to Benny McDevitt. Who knows, maybe Jobe had a supplement shot on 1 January and ASADA tested on 31 January meaning no requirement to report the supplements taken.

Why don't the players release their copy of the DCF forms?

They got a copy when they filled it out, and would have got a copy as part of the evidence brief.

If they did the right thing surely they have nothing to hide in releasing them...
