Recommitted Joe Daniher 2019 [requested a trade to Sydney - didn't get there]

"Essendon can match any Daniher free agency bid next year, following Adelaide’s path in securing picks No.9, 28 and Dean Gore for brilliant midfielder Patrick Dangerfield in 2015."

The threat of being able to match is more than enough to secure more than just a compo pick, as shown with Dangerfield.
The contrast between this deal and what is being proposed in this thread.

When a footballer says he wants to be out of the Melbourne bubble, what is it exactly they are seeking?
To avoid scrutiny of their performance? Being able to go out and do what they want without pesky reporting of their lack of commitment?
The innermost bloke inside me says he must want kinky sexual gratification, take lots and lots of drugs without any scrutiny, and play some footy on the weekends.
This is Sydney. We can accommodate that if he wants it :thumbsu:

Does he have a girlfriend ? If so we'll need to get her out of the picture.
He might be batting way out of his league (he's no oil painting) but I'm sure we can still arrange a stable of Northern Beaches surfer girls for him, along with the odd Eastern Suburbs Princess for formal occasions (though they have big mouths after being dumped).
A quick trip to McIntosh's at Mosman for a one off AMG, dinner with Lance and Jesinta, beers at The Sheaf with Ramps, plus the biggest prize of the lot...Heeney's mum's phone number.
Lets see if he re-signs with the Dons once we've shown him a taste of his new life over the off season.

Do people honestly wonder why a young guy would want to leave Tullamarine behind ?

If you took the time to read the article, says that Essendon are not interested in picks but players.
I did read the article, the Swans have been fairly definitive on the point that they won’t trade out their best young players.

They would never accept a deal like that.

They just keep doing it don't they. With a Cpl days to go the Ex Dons players start trying to help them out.
They are supposed to be private negotiations. That's how its done...they are meant to be private for the players benefit.

You don't deliberately feed a wannabe media scab what is assumed to be confidential information. At least you don't make it obvious what you are trying to do.
Ex Players shouldn't be deliberately trying to derail a negotiation process for personal gain.

" Matthew Lloyd has revealed Sydney’s current offer to Essendon as negotiations unfold for Joe Daniher. The key forward has requested a trade to the Swans, but the Bombers maintain they will hold him to his contract.
Lloyd says the current offer by Sydney is nowhere near enough to satiate Essendon.
My belief is, and strong belief is, currently as we sit right now the offer from the Sydney Swans to Essendon is a first and a second-round draft pick,” he told Telstra AFL Trade Radio.

He doesnt even know...all he's touting is that it is his "my belief is..."

Why would you even interview the twat first thing Monday morning ? You expect an unbiased account ? You expect honesty ? Not talk up his club ?

How about we interview Paul Roos instead and get "my belief is Dons demands are ridiculous and way overs..."

Absolute knobs. Why would anyone ever deal with the Dons when they have zero integrity.

Isn't that what the majority of BigFooty are doing? Clinging on to half truths and guesses?

For the record, I hoped Lloyd would be a mouth piece for Essendon, similar to Luke Darcy, Kane Cornes, etc. etc. ut he has hardly been that. The velvet sledgehammer continues even in the media. No prisoners, not even from his former club.

I'd be mad too if my lowballing was exposed.

Poor Joe, now facing the realisation that the Swans don't want him that much :(

We offered GWS a 1st and a 2nd originally for Shiel but eventually Dodo had to give 2 x 1sts last minute as they wouldn't relent

Payback this year.

If Carlton deal 9 to Brisbane for 16 and 21.
16 and a future 2nd (Swans need future picks for 2020 academy kids) for Papley and 54
21 gets the Blues Jack Martin

We get 5 and 16 and a fringe player (Clarke or Thurlow?) for Joey Jo Jo
Cutler for 33 with 52 coming back to us (to go to Adel for Jenkins)

Take Kemp at 5 - offload 16 and 31 for a future 1st from the Saints or Dogs who NEED PICKS now.

This deal is dead. It's not going to happen.
You better hope it at least plays out fairly FOR JOE, not necessarily just for the Dons. You can easily say goodbye to the Daniher legacy at your club.
You can explain to his dad and uncles how your selfish amateurish club screwed up both Darcy and Joe's groin issues, experimented with their teammates health, then refused to even accommodate and help Joe's wishes after he made a mid career decision.

You want to run a jail ? give him a 1 yr sentence ? Wait until you see how that message works out. Even Gold Coast resist sending out that message.

Biggest mistake of his life choosing your amateurish mob over an actual afl club. He obviously knows it.

Hey, maybe tomorrow you can get Jobe and Timmy to come out with some more super awesome negotiating tactics...."pssst Tim...would you mind talking up Joe's value sometime today on radio, cheers"

Daniher’s family want him to stay at Essendon. Assuming it’s because they want him in Melbourne.

When you climb down from your high horse would you like a tissue?

At least you can console yourself with snaring the great Lewis Taylor. Was Tom his mentor as well?

For the umpteenth time, holding a player to his contract that THE PLAYER signed is not immature, it is not petty. Club land is more mature than what is posted on BigFooty. It is not going to happen the way many portray it too happen. See Tim Kelly this year. Players request trades. Don't get it. Go back to club land and put in like they should. Post season they try again (see Tim Kelly, 2 years running).

I wish supporter bases would grow up too (and yes, that includes mine so no need to try and say we are more mature than we are. We can be belligerent as any supporter bases at times).
