Recommitted Joe Daniher 2019 [requested a trade to Sydney - didn't get there]

O'Meara was brought up to show that missing 2 years of football doesn't necessarily mean you are going to get a player for a bargain. Hawthorn had to pay a significant price for Jaeger because GC knew how valuable he was despite his issues. Sydney supporters thinking they'll just get to swoop in on a contracted superstar player for peanuts is hilarious.
I see your definition of "superstar" is very broad. He is only contracted for one more season. Gives us time to see how JD's groin that Essendon
apparently destroyed recovers. Unless of course you release JD from his hostage like conditions at a cheap rate.

Are you going to do the same for Papley? Or are Sydney going to break up a happy couple?
Nobody is suggesting peanuts lol. Bombers fans are suggesting it should be one of the most expensive trades of all time.
If a 1.5 goal-a-game small forward who has never been AA or a BnF winner is worth a top 10 pick in 2019, I think the Bombers are entitled to ask for 2 high picks for a star key forward. But we'll see how the negotiations go... if Joe even wants to leave.

Presume you’re suggesting because Brown kicked 1 more H&A goal he was better despite Joe kicking 7 more behinds (outscoring him) and being named in the AA team. Joe had more than twice as many hit outs due to more time in the ruck as well but sure, be salty about sideshow.
Lol. Brown is worth more than three Danihers. Why would I be salty?
Just amused that Essendon fans always seem to claim overwhelming Joe is great because he once finished third in the Coleman - even though he didn't. Ben has the last three years btw.

Yeah 3rd best key forward ≠ 3rd in Coleman.

Durability weights it Brown’s way but fit I’d take Joe especially given he’s younger, more tricks than lead dive kick goal.

Hahaha, come on now. I'd love Daniher, and at his best he's absolutely one of the most lethal forwards in the comp. But you're kidding if you think he's more valuable than a bloke who has played 5 full seasons in a row and averaged 53 goals a season across them (63 across the last 3).

Joe's body doesn't seem younger, Brown lead the comp for distance covered this year. Must have been lots of one trick leads.

And 95% of key forwards in the league never even get close to that level. But we'll be happy to keep the overrated one-season-wonder if Sydney don't think he's worth it.

So keep him then. He'll do rehab. Get fit. Will leave as a RFA. Everybody wins.

If Daniher is so fantastic and such an important player going forward, why haven't Essendon got a contract extension on the table for him to consider?
Because we are being sensible and waiting to see how he goes next year.

We have that luxury because he is contracted to us...

No one is forcing you to try to grab him and we will be very happy if you just walk away.

Why are people so infuriated that Essendon is only looking out for Essendon in this deal?

I’m not - we all should be looking out for our own club. This is why the deal won’t happen easily or quickly. Dodoro will make sure he squeezes everything he can.

Lot of talk about what’s unders and what’s overs. Reckon most trades are overs or unders, very rarely they’re precisely equitable. It’s a subjective concept anyway so pretty irrelevant. But it depends on the circumstances.

In this case I think if a trade happens it’ll be for overs, just because of the circumstances. Essendon don’t need to trade him.

He’s not immature or a dick, and he’s not on the outer at all. It’s not a Stringer situation. Even among all this bullshit, he’s still been the only player at the club every day (during his annual leave period) doing rehab.

He might express a desire to go. But if Essendon don’t get a cracking deal they very well might just not do it. He’s still a very important player. All parties will just get back to work. Joe knowing he’s a FA next year and will be able to explore that, Essendon knowing that if he goes in twelve months they’ll get good compensation anyway.

Then in the meantime, who knows. Maybe he falls back in love with Essendon. Maybe his desire to leave gets stronger. Maybe he has an enormous year and has multiple clubs chasing him. Maybe he plays five games again and his body is rooted, and other clubs aren’t keen on him. Who knows.

So I am. In my defence he must have forgotten he was one too when he took his concerns about Essendon's chemical experiments to his employer but not his patients.

Keep it on topic DH

Please. This guy has had one elite season in his career (2017), and his groin in ****ed, has barely played for two years. There is no way in hell he is worth 2x first rounders. Players currency is all based on their recent history, not living off former glory. Current value Papley > Daniher, every non Essendon supporter would agree.
