Butcher has been chopped from the Magpies league team - hopefully a minor injury or rest and not through lack of form.

No mention of Butch in the Power's SANFL report. From what I've read earlier he didn't have a real impact on ground or on the scoreboard, are Port trying to only give out positive news on this guy? I'd like to hear all things related to his development considering he seems to be shaping up as a key to our structure in the future.

Dont know what report you are looking at.:confused::confused:

John Butcher (for Magpies vs Panthers)
Despite the Magpies being on top and running out convincing winners, Butch had limited opportunities - he got to a lot of marking contests but wasn’t quite able to clutch some grabs within big contests amongst a number of players. We were happy that he got to as many contests as he did - twenty, thirty contests - but in the end he didn’t have a lot of impact on the scoreboard. We’re working on his running without the ball and how he gets a split on his opponent.

He has a slight hamstring injury so is being rested. Never jump to conclusions guys. This kid will be good, and he works hard.

Keep us informed please, all things you know hear,

appreciated

does he know , ahem, do you think he'll be played after the bye? is there a plan to ease him into the AFL team/ squad?

You'd think with Primus' focus on playing youngsters that Butch would have to get at least 6 AFL games into him before the end of the year.

Spoke to John tonight. He injured his hamstring at training in Wedneaday night. Will be out for around 3-4 weeks and was pretty disapointed.

Says it is not related to his back (which he says is 100%) and it is the first time he has ever injured a hammy.

I hope he gets a game before the year is out.

The Falloon Curse strikes again.

Watching Gold Coast, Tom Lynch is 196cm and 86kg ... 18yo had only played one season of AFL (basketball background?). A likely but gangly type - takes a good grab and ok kick.

Butcher is 197cm, 84kg and 20yo - how come we dont play him? I know he is injured now but earlier in the season withou Schulz and Ebo?

Looks similar I would say - Tom doesnt look out of his depth and he has had limited football. John was a dominant u18 player!

Do we take too long to give someone a chance, hence we seem to have so many tall 'project' players\?

Please dont let Butch become anorher lost one, PAFC!

Because even with Schultz out with were teaming with strong forwards and big bodied Key position players. Oh wait

Because we aren't 16th on the ladder for scores for. Oh wait

Because Primus has shown since Round 1 he doesnt play players who haven't starred in SANFL and earned their spot. Oh wait

Because Primus has shown since Round 1 he doesnt play players who haven't starred even played SANFL and earned their spot. Oh wait

Because Primus has shown he knows what he is doing and has a plan.Oh wait

Because we weren't bottom of the ladder, having lost the unlosable against GC when he could have brought in Butcher. Oh wait

Actually, do you know the only possible reason I could think? Its becasuse Primus is such a genius he doesn't see the need to have a forward line and drags them to half back. Our being 16th in points for and 2nd in Points conceded is proof of that. oh wait

Yeah, thats is. With Pittard and O'Shea tearing it up with Carlisle and Chaplin he isn't prepared to change our kick in routine. If he played Butcher what would Pittard do when opposition teams kick a point and Butcher takes the kick in? Butcher is warming the Salter seat.

John Butcher = Proof Primus has no gloss.

hmmmm? you didnt mellow in your week off with the bye? :D

Butcher better not play in the backline!!!!

No because it gave me a chance to see 4 other teams in the flesh, which bought to my attention how much harder other teams try, and how they always manage to find new kids to show something

Meanwhile, our best glimpse in what- 3 seasons? was a rising star nod for Pittard. Anyone see that kid for Bulldogs last night? Dalhaus the dreadlock? Struth

Pick #22 in the rookie draft

LEOPOLD midfielder Luke Dahlhaus is leaving the TAC Cup competition with a remarkable record.
In 27 games for the Geelong Falcons over two seasons, the 18-year-old has been named in their best 15 times and averaged over a goal a game.
It's a performance Falcons coach Paul Hood was thrilled to see recognised when Dahlhaus was named in the 2010 TAC Cup Team of the Year on Sunday night.

If there is room in the game for Dahlhaus (well done to him by the way) to play there is room for Butcher. Struth.

This be the same rookie draft we repicked Westhoff. Gee, he must love the club forcing our hand like that. If that were me I'd honour the club for giving me 5 years to show something by letting the contract lapse mutually.

But Butcher can't get a game for us even while the 3 rookie stooges are selected week in week out and Schultz in injured and Stewart is so bad he's being dropped.

Butcher better not play in the backline!!!!

The worst r00t I ever had was still better than the best r00t i never had

Just get him on the field.

We are a feeder team for the SANFL thats why he does not play:rolleyes:

Done a hammy, will be out for a few more weeks.
Might play a game before the end of the season.
Probably play a fair few games next year
