I agree wholeheartedly but tomorrow will present him to those who don't get along to Maggies' games and hopefully he'll make us look like dills.

Lobbe looked like a pleb at West. Taylor Walker has gone from faltering chump at Norwood to focal point extraordinaire in the past fortnight.

AFL and SANFL are chalk and cheese. Rather than relying on precision positional delivery in stagnant forward lines, Butcher's workrate and combative style will be better rewarded at the highest level - a la Lobbe.

Considering the force field up around our F50 he's been alright. One nice grab, a good assist and working hard up the ground. And his laces appeared to be separated.

Also he managed to be at CHF, passing to Schulz at FF, rather than both going for the same ball. Holy shit!

After his first quarter in AFL, I'm very impressed. So excited. Two great marks, one great inside 50, a couple of contested possessions... Doing smart plays and playing with confidence. Never drop him again.

Reading this board is funny sometimes. After a quarter of AFL football, Butcher can't kick for goal. Yet Brett Ebert still might do enough work to play midfield one day after nine years.

Been impressive. Just imagine what more games into him will do plus a better team around him. Has a good future no doubt.

Well he has one thing Tredders like quality

Whenever he deserves a free kick it doesn't come his way

Been happy with him thus far, plays better in a Power jumper than in a maggies one, and thats with only slightly better delivery

Poor ol' Powerstufff he could've picked 21 other players to lambast for an expected performance today and been on the money.

Still he's suffering enough at the game now ...

And I still don't get the critical comments on his lack of workrate off the ball.

Stats looking pretty good. Haven't been watching but pleased to see 5 marks and a goal.

Deserves it's own thread.

Played a very good game today, I would say our best by a long way. And it's his first match. In a disgusting display of football by our team, this has been the only positive, not just today but in our whole season.

Well done Butch :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Good to see him crack a smile after his first goal as well. He deserves a better debut than that. Hopefully next week he can tear it up at AAMI, new fan favourite for sure. Why couldn't he have come in, say, a month ago? We would have beaten Brisbane had he been selected ahead of Ebert, and would have maybe shown some a bit more fight in the Sloldown

Played really well. Showed alot more heart and courage in one game then most of our players who have played for years.

And I still don't get the critical comments on his lack of workrate off the ball.

i dont know if this was just circumstance but while i was watching the game off and on everytime i was watching and saw him on the screen he was chasing someone!! hard!!

yeah i loved how he really seemed to be able to get his hands on everything that came near him. can really fly with those go-go gadget hands up.

well played Butch. amazing first game performance under those circumstances. how many times did he follow up a marking contest with a chase or two ? workrate - fantastic.

shows up our selection panel who are supposed to be in the know

should have had more games put in him

"too young, too early"

what a load of codswallop

well done John, great debut! :thumbsu:
