You keep making the assertion that we should be better because ....we should be better.
It's circular nonsense.

2018 Crows teams were easily in the best handful of teams...in theory.
They didn't even play finals.

The idea that the difference between achieving and not-achieving rests on whether the game plan is flairy/not negative/play on at all costs is nonsense.

The difference between achieving and not achieving has everything to do with the coach. The players are the car, and the coach is the driver. Sure the car could be amazing, best in the field, but if the driver is half blind and drunk then the car is not going to be winning the race. Conversely the car can be crap, and even if the driver is the best in the world he is still not going to be winning the race.

Punts Old Mate I can guarantee you people in their 50's and above that have been watching and supporting from about the time they were 5 or 6 years old have most definitely not been spoiled. Support regardless of win loss is non negotiable for sure and certain but people are allowed to get upset and frustrated when they know their team should be better performed and that does not necessarily mean flags, top 4 or 25 goal scorelines week in week out but what they do get pissed off with is no attempt to change or rectify a situation, the ineptness of people to be able to improve the situation and also with people who also won't pull their head out their ass and see the club are not perfect, keep making the same repetitive excuse about our current status and consider themselves a lot more loyal than people who may question it.
We've all been a bit spoiled over the past 20 years Wolfie but many fans do believe Horse is the right coach, despite his shortcomings, to bring about continued success, based on both his past record and the positive changes that are visibly happening in the team. Believing we are building to another period of glory, feeling a frisson of excitement and deciding to back the coach by jumping aboard that particular train is far from having one's head up one's ass. I'd go further to suggest that those who continue to denigrate Horse entirely regardless of any evidence to the contrary will be left sitting on the platform complaining when the next train doesn't come. They may be the ones far more in need of performing a self-admistered rectal cranialectomy (I'm sure there's a Youtube video if one quite literally gets stuck)

Our car is still in protoype stage.

What's that got to do with anything apart from your computer skills . Wolfgang , he's not Wolfie has summed it up perfectly , unfortunately some like your good self are so blinkered , so cannot really see what's happening to our list. He has lost a fair few of the players in the last 18 months or so. You can deny that in your own way , but with all due respect where you are ,you have NO idea what is happening over here.
He now has his massive new house and houseboat on the Murray at Yarrawonga and will be only 3 and a bit hours from there and 25 minutes from town of birth in Corowa next year .Good luck over there in a World Cup and Ashes year , how lucky you are . Goodnight !

Are you saying Longmire is planning on quitting at the end of the year, or have I misunderstood?

He will be coaching at a Melbourne club , one of 3. It will be the best thing for our club. He has been a fantastic assistant and senior coach , but the time is at the end of this season for a fresh start. No doubt our mate Ted , our mate in SE Old Dart and a few K's will comeback hard , but I couldn't give a rat's toss bag , the era is over at the conclusion of this season , the same as it was when Rocket's time is up . It happens it's a part of footy.

Does that mean the club is actively looking for a new head coach right now, or is it still something that is not quite certain? I wonder if we will try and promote from within, someone like Steve Johnson, or if we will look for someone externally.

I do think though that if Longmire knows he is leaving already he should resign now, give the Swans a chance to build and try new things rather than treading water.

I hope he stays till the end of the year and is not our way these days , he at least deserves that , but the jungle drums are beating. We need a fresh person in charge .

Bring Brandan Jack back, he was smart, he can be our coach.

On a more serious note though, ideally I would like to see Longmire resign halfway through the season, and give Steve Johnson 11 weeks to show what he can do.

bet they would give it to kirk

I love Kirk but he is too in the Longmire mold. Not to mention he is our midfield coach and our midfield is terrible. We really need someone fresh, someone with a less defensive mindset and I think that is Johnson.

Agree

kirks been rubbish so far imo

I’d probably go with Cox and not Johnson and his 1 year apprenticeship as an assistant coach. Far too early for him to be given a senior gig I would have thought.

If and when Longmire goes I’d love to get someone external as the head coach. Kirk is just a third generation Roos and appointing him would be a disaster.
It would be interesting to see what an outsider thinks of the way we do things and how they go about making changes.
If not an outsider then I wouldn’t object to Cox taking over. Watching him on game day he is extremely involved in the address to the players and certainly has great experience at another successful club in west coast.
