If the season is gone, would be good to see Longmire mix it up and at least try something new. More run and a bit of flair off HB and through the middle, maybe three pers in and around the f50.

Will it happen. Nope.

Unfortunately we all know the season is gone. This is not 2017 as back then we had a lot of important players out, and they were slowly filtering back into the side during those first 6 weeks, slowly making us better. 2019 is not like that, as we essentially have our best team out there (minus Menzel and Naismith). There is nothing coming in that will greatly improve us. Also worrying is that we had the easy month, Western Bulldogs, Adelaide, Carlton and Melbourne was on paper the easy month. Now we have Richmond, GWS, Brisbane and Essendon and I would be very surprised if we win 2 of those games.

After a few days of calming down I think the new rules are much of the catalyst for our drop in form. The new rules don't suit our list and 6 months notice of the rule changes don't allow a team to rejuvenate the whole list to suit such a major change in the way the game is played.

That being said what the likes of bedford have said is correct. The time has come for Horse to move on. The thing that concerns me greatly is the press conferences seem to be Horse saying it's all on the back of the players and nothing to do with me. I feel we have got to a stage where the skills have not improved over the last 5 years, the game plan has changed very little over the last 5 years and those that have come in both on and off the field seem to have not made a difference. It just screams to me of a head strong coach who is hell bent on proving that my way is the right way no matter how much the game changes. Our new assistants have seen no change in the game plan or structures. Our new players seem to have a couple of games of free attacking play before being dragged into this habit of first look sideways or backwards before thinking going forward. That play might be alright if you can get to half forward, lower the eyes and hit up a target. Unfortunately, year after year we have seen us get to half forward and high bomb to a forward line now crowded because of the slow play and with no small forward to mop up the crumbs as they have all been reprogrammed to think as midfielders not goal sneaks.

I don't know. Maybe I'm way off the mark but it just stinks of stubborn mindedness to me.

The difference between achieving and not achieving has everything to do with the coach. The players are the car, and the coach is the driver. Sure the car could be amazing, best in the field, but if the driver is half blind and drunk then the car is not going to be winning the race. Conversely the car can be crap, and even if the driver is the best in the world he is still not going to be winning the race.

He's been in charge for how long? How many games have we won in that time?
When did we last play finals? What about a grand final?

Did any of that have anything to do with the coach?

The tantrum throwing about the coach just because we don't play "flairy" enough is nonsense.
It is no more than whinging because we aren't winning as much as we used to.

There has been an obvious drop off in form & consistency of players like JPK & Rampe.
Our youngsters have promised much but delivered only in patches.
We don't have a ruckman. Sinkers is no more than a hard worker.

Waa waa waa sack the coach because we don't play on at all costs. No team plays on at all costs. Every team chips the ball around.
We are playing the exact same style as everybody else, we just suck at the moment. Simple.

So if you think that why do we even have a coach at all, clearly we don't need one since all teams play the same anyway?

To be fair to be a successful coach would take enormous belief in a plan and a style so it’s understandable if horse is stubborn

He has seen over some good work in the past

I think it’s a clubwide fear of drop off that we will lose some fairweather fans so they desperately try to tread water and hold on

Even in games let’s limit teams hang in there and at worse get a respectable loss

What??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

We have a coach so that fans can call for their sacking should the team not win as much as it has in the recent past.

My source at Hawthorn said 2 years ago the Ratten is the man , absolutely brilliant coach . Carlton really didn't realise how good he was and got sucked in to Malthouse.

I reckon Ratten’s probably pretty good.

But I would’ve loved to have seen this board’s response if Longmire delivered seasons like Carlton’s 2010 or 2012. Don’t think it’d be much different to what Longmire is getting now

Wasn't me, but good on that caller. What did the people on 3AW say?

Robbo said that Sydney is good at defending, but have problems when it comes to midfield clearances and other areas.
He also added that, if Longmire is looking for a new job, it will be interesting if other clubs will pick him up.
