Now - I didn't see it but my old man reckons that Bannisters father was on The Fifth Quater and said something in relation to Jordan not going to be at Carlton next year? And something about Collingwood?

Anyone shed some light?

Yh he was on ABC or something today, Bannister's dad, saying that he isnt playing at Carlton, and that he will be at Collingwood next year and he has already spoken to Greg Swann.

Sounds a bit shady if you ask me, and if its true, how could Jordan play out the rest of the year at Carlton with that on his back.

75% of the Football public is asking who the hell is Jordon Bannister ? Old man shut up !

Yeah saw it too. It was taken off ABC radio today with his father saying that Jordan wouldn't be at Carlton next year and off to Collingwood. His father saying that this was coming from someone (didn't catch the name) at Carlton and also that he knows Eddie quite well and the deals already done. However after the grab from radio Andy Maher did state that they had contacted Collingwood who had denied it.

Dunno about 5th quarter.

His old man called ABC radio after the freo/cats game today and said outright Jordan Bannister would be playing for pies next year.

I gotta say I know nothing about the player or his dad. But I feel sorry for Jordan his old man was way out of line. Ugly parent.

The commentators who (mclure etc) obviously knew the dad personally where very embarrassed but did not want to cut him off. (my interpretation)

Poor kid. I hope it doesnt blow up for him just because his old man talks too much.

Yup, heard this one live on ABC-Radio this afternoon.
The father (Wayne Bannister) sounded a little bit "three-sheets-to-the-wind" shall we say.
Wayne Bannister claimed he had played in the Reserves at Collingwood in the past, and that his son was a Collingwood fan growing up, and wanted to go back there.
His basic complaint was that he had coached his son from when he was a junior, and he felt that he was being played in the wrong position by Denis Pagan.
He said that he'd had discussions with Pagan over this, and that he would "look into it". He claimed he would be better being played at CHF.
He then went on rather embarassingly to claim he knew Eddie and some guy named Swan, and that negotiations had taken place to get his son to Collingwood next year, and that indeed his son would be leaving the Blues, and would be playing at Collingwood in 2006.

The commentators were stoney silent, and sounded very embarrased.
They reckoned he was foolish afterwards, and so did all of the rest of the callers preceding this.
Absolute;y cringeworthy, and his son would be absolutely furious with him.

He should have rang "Vent your spleen" It needed it. (venting)
no, it needed to be on 'vent your spleen' because they would have blown the siren after 30 seconds of his garbage

for once i gave up on listening to 3 minute ad-breaks post-game on MMM and went with the ABC. but calls like that make me regret it.

It was an unusual call. Actually the ABC do these things that you cringe about for a start but then they grow on you. Vent you spleen is one of these things and that Sunday sweep stakes is another. Quite enjoy both bu now.

how does sunday sweep stakes go?

and all of MMM's ads make me cringe so thats why i abandon them as soon as the final siren rings

The special comments blokes decide the most likely six best possession getters of the Sunday game. Then they get callers to ring in and first in gets to choose one of the six if they can answer a question about the so far football of the week end. And so on until all six players have a contestant.

The one of the six that gets the most possessions at the end of the gane wins some sort of prize.

It grows on you after a while.

Heard 'vent your spleen' 1st time today.

Had me laughing. Some people are very clever. Some not so clever.

I dont know if we get it usaully in WA because we cross to WAFL. Today we didnt cross for about 1/2 hour.
