That you don't like and/or rate Daicos?
I think that if his name was not "DAICOS" then he would not be on the list. One-paced & simply not good enough for AFL football in 2019. If we were fair dinkum would be subject to de-listing late this year along with Crocker and a few others. Let's finally call a spade a spade. Not popular but it is correct.

I don't totally disagree, I think that discussion will definitely be had. He was disappointing Friday, in an overall team performance that can generously be described as average

Our last 4 father sons;

Will Kelly (hamstring off the bone as an 18yr old)
Tyler Brown (?)
Callum Brown :)thumbsdown:)
Josh Daicos :)thumbsdown:)

I'm not sure I understand your joy. What is there to be happy about having players on our list not make it?

Been a disappointing season for Daics. I honestly thought he'd be the guy that came on this season but if anything he's gone backwards. He's contracted for 2020 so he'll get more time, but he's fast running out of opportunities.

Will probably get a game this week because there is bugger all left on our list!

Was completely vanilla against the tigers and was extremely flattered on the stats sheet by some junk time possessions late, when the game was already well and truly lost.

Was not alone in being terrible but, I feel for the kid because I've seen nothing so far to suggest he will make it.

Also, where we seem to be missing serious grunt and genuine speed in our midfield and he possesses neither.

Will probably play for the remainder of the home and away. Good chance to throw him around in different positions.

Really lacks a clear position... which reminds me of Aish a couple of years back. Like Aish, l think Daicos would benefit from being behind the ball.... playing as the seventh defender

I wouldn't be throwing him around. I'd play him 70% forward 30% on the wing (where he played so well in the preseason). But yeah, plays the next month.

I'm not giving up on Daics just yet. He has shown some flashes this year but just not consistently. I recall Gary Ablett Junior having similar doubts at around the same stage of his career...although he had already somewhat cemented his spot.

Daics will get his chance in the final month with so many injuries, and I hope he benefits from the continuity.

If the list were stronger, he might be on the chopping block. But I think he'll survive another season because there are so many others to chop before him.

I really can't see what forward line attributes he has. He's an outside mid and unless he can develop outstanding endurance, he's a VFL level outside mid.

I can see your point, but that's discounting a player's ability to adapt to requirements. Josh has a good kick, excellent disposal, and good awareness. If we can add some power to his game and strength in his tackles he can be useful. Would he have had this opportunity if it wasn't for his surname? Likely not.

EDIT: He kicked quite a few goals during his junior footy days, even though in colts he was mostly on the ball.

True. Players regularly develop traits that aren't immediately apparent. Callum's ability to dart into space seemed to fall from the skies over preseason. Having said that, I wouldn't cross my fingers regarding Daicos and small forward. Are there any decent AFL small forwards who share his physical attributes?

I'm probably drawing a long bow here (romanticizing too) but in his kicking and ability to pivot I've seen glimpses of Medhurst and a bit of his dad. It ends there, glimpses. The realist in me agrees with you.

Yeah, maybe. In which case he's 70% wing and 30% forward. I expected him to come on more than C Brown this year. Looked like it in preseason then disappeared mysteriously.

I think there are traits there.

He is a good kick of the footy, he isn't quick but has a turn of pace, and he is a pretty good tackler. Confidence can be an amazing thing. he looked a million bucks over the off-season, but just hasn't been able to break into the side. He'll get opportunity now, and just needs to feel as if he belongs at the level.

I think he has above average vision and is an above average kick. I would say his pace is league average.

I would say strength and tackling ability, overhead ability would be weaknesses.

Has quite a bit to prove without being hopeless.

Heard from an ex AFL player today who is still involved in the AFL circles that Daicos Senior isn’t too happy with Bucks because Josh isn’t getting much of a game. Apparently his fitness is off the charts. As a young player playing his type of position, he might need the others around him to be playing well to build his confidence and show what he can do. I still think he will go ok.

Hes got every chance of staying in the team given our injuries. When we start getting players back others like Crocker Varcoe and Thomas should go before him if we have an eye to the future (and if he plays well enough). Its up to him.
