The level of cognitive dissonance on here is extraordin

There's a bit of cognitive dissonance going on here, I think.
Port players always come out before Showdowns and say things like 'We hate them' and posters here pour shit on them.'Thank God we don't do that' etc.
Then Rachele taunts Port fans and suddenly it's - "Oh it's just a joke'
You can't have it both ways.
And obviously the team didn't like it and told him so, and then he doubled down.
Laird comes out, and Smith comes out, and Tex comes out and Fog comes out and the coach comes out and Dawson comes out and they all say it wasn't on.
Perhaps there's a remote chance that he stuffed up, the team disciplined him and he accepted it.
Several topics I could expand on with your response but the main issue is the messaging of the leadership group and the AFC.

This weird 'prioritise others' sounds good in theory but if the decisions/standards of the group in charge are just being blindly followed, it can be dangerous. This club is unsuccessful for a reason.

Last year, Brisbane in 4th position after 13 rounds, Gunston and Rich drop themselves. This year, our leadership group waited until the last round to drop someone. After finishing 15th, a third year player, for not prioritising the team first philosophies not football performance related.

He's a forward not a midfielder simple as that. His football (soccer) background skills were on display multiples on the weekend - that left foot assist to Cumming was ... Chefs kiss.

Whether or not he could be a quality midfielder, we are now (finally) in the situation where we don't need him to be. We have plenty of good midfield options, and can afford to have Rachele as a dangerous option up forward. Very handy :thumbsu:

Agreed.
With Rankine spending more time in the middle we need to keep him around the goals.
This obsession people have with trying to turn everyone into a midfielder when they are doing really well in their natural position makes me laugh.

I think he can play both if his tank is up to playing mid but with our current list he's the most valuable up forward.

He played a lot of midfield as a junior and would have probably played a lot more for the Bushies if not for Covid and Victoria's ridiculous lockdowns.

Probably because he was very good when he played there in the first 8 weeks in 2023 but ran out of legs but given we drafted a high quality midfielder in Draper and the development of Soligo, we don't have to play him there anymore.

Also need to remember that great SFs also become a stoppage mid in the forward half.

The goal Rachele set up for Couch shows how great he is in stoppages. Vision and skillset to get the ball to Crouch.

I think he is far more damaging around goals than he is in the midfield. With Rankine in the middle we don't have any other small forward that is as good as either him or Rankine, unless we bring back Murphy for another stint.....

Wash your mouth out with soap!!!!

Sunday was the third-highest rated game of Josh's career and – imo, more significantly – he's played four of the eight highest-rated games of his career in his last 10 (since R14 last year).
So he should never have been dropped!

He's a real weapon now up forward.

Think he assisted in 3 1st quarter goals... & really helped us get the early momentum.
