This is word on the street.

Could benefit both clubs/players.

Toy is a stud but on outer with GC whilst Hooker gets an important lockdown job at gc.

Word on the street (aka. garbage) haha, priceless :D It's not trade week yet son.

What's happened to this guy?

He was touted as a top 3 pick if he went into the draft but I have seen absolutely nothing from him when he has played for the Suns to justify that.

A Toy for a Hooker ???

I hadn't heard this but there is certainly smoke around Toy back to Vict next year.

Hooker hasn't come on as much as I thought he would this year and I don't see this trade as being out of balance. Toy has a mass of talent if he wakes up and realises the world doesn't revolve around him and he needs to work.

You are a deadset twit. Word on the street hey? What a joke and Hooker ain't going anywhere!

No doubt its a BS rumor, however if it was offered Essendon wouldn't be able to sign off on it fast enough

Know nothing about Hooker's contract status.

But I actually really like this trade for both clubs. Gold Coast really need a young KPD who can be a big part of the side for the next 8/9 years while Essendon get an immense talent who in an open draft would have been clearly inside the top 5 selections and possibly would have come inside the top 2-3.

Toy will likely come up in trade talks because as Q mentioned there have been more than a couple of rumours suggesting that he wants to move to a Vic club.

I see it as a win-win where both tclubs can be made better from the trade. Essendon upgrade on talent, and the Gold Coast add a huge building block.

Really unique opportunity for Victorian clubs if Toy does as many of us half expect come onto the market.

Would love the kid at Collingwood. Just don't have the currency to trade for him unfortunately. 1st rounder + a couple of fringe players simply won't come close.

You've got to be joking. Every other club in the league would be willing to offer more than that to get Toy onto their list.

Essendon are getting a steal if true, Toy is going to be much, much better than Hooker ever will be.

KPPs are generally considered more valueable because it is so much harder to come accorss a quality KPP and with a backline short or quality talls at GC I think if they got a Ben Reid/ Hooker or equivalent they would do it scarily enough because they have the talent to burn. Toy is absolutely the superior talent. With Toy though, being at a club he doesn't feel comfortable at, he will never reach his potential which I think GC are realising, so there is little point keeping him on. Best for both parties to part ways.

If he made the switch to Essendon within 3-4 years he would become the franchise player. Probably even above Heppell who also is an incredible talent. It would give Essendon serious premiership potential which right now I would argue they probably don't have because they are fairly lean when it comes to talent.

All up I think it would make both clubs better in the long run. Essendon have Carlisle who probably could step in for the time being, but certainly they would look to draft another KPD who is a near Hooker level talent with a high draft pick at some stage. GC would downgrade on talent, but add a high quality KPD to build the defense around. So win-win.

But other clubs will put offers on the table. So this is nothing close to a done deal. Nothing is this early on..

I know Toy has trained with Dustin Fletcher, and Ken Fletcher was his coach, so will want to come back to Essendon.

Going to have to disagree.

Toy is a bull at a gate player - great desperation - reckless bravery - but lacks street smarts - Can lose his player easily in traffic - Doubt that he will be good as touted.

Very happy with his Hooker's season -2nd for intercept marks in the AFL - See him playing the Fletcher role.

Early call - Doubt that toy will end up as good as Hooker.

I've hardly seen Toy, so its hard to comment on that side of things. If you could really be certain he'd be as good as many on this thread appear to think he'll be (based off how many games they've seen?) then you would have to consider it.

But structurally it sucks for us. Hooker is our CHB, and doing pretty well for a guy in his 4th season. Should be a reliable CHB for the next 10 years - which isn't to be sneezed at. Have a look at the price a few KP backs such as Hay, Wakelin have got in trades to see how much a good tall defender is worth. Given this year we are so hit by injuries that we've had to play 3 rucks and Fletcher in the KP role, it seems an odd time to be considering it.
