Hmmm........Gerard or Slobbo?
Who to believe?
Regardless of supporters predelictions and views of our coach, it’s the height incredulity if people don’t get the media would love with passion to see any coach especially Nathan (ie Collingwood) fail.

It’s a blood sport for many of them, they thrive in destroying people.
Happens all the time in sport / politics. Seek and destroy.

Ps there’s quite a few around these parts that could make sports journalists. They even have the poor writing skills that could find a home at certain media rags.

Did you read the papers at the end of last season? pretty much all of them wrote that they thought Nathan should stay on

Watching Talking Footy they are saying that the coaches are arking up because the media is already going after Buckley. Spare me, What did they think would happen?
Blood sport.

They love it.

Regardless of who is a coach, blood in water, they circle like sharks.
That’s part of the deal.

Steve Smith, terrible and all that, but part of it (part only) is the some in the media loving ripping him up to a 1,000 pieces.
Just part of deal.

I reckon a bottle or two of scotch and I could lift my output to Slobbo level.

It’s not about Nathan, per se, it’s any coach. Soften then up, then destroy.
Through the year there was ongoing pressure via the media.
One or two set articles doesn’t square the tab.

The media love ripping anyone vulnerable apart.
Nathan today.
Someone tomorrow.

I’ve said it before I’ll say it again, the media is like the sewer, it’s necessary, it’s nedded, but it stinks and is full of s....

(The media is not our friend; the media is nobody’s friend; they’d turn on me and yeh if we were fodder to generate clicks / ciculation.)

On that, I have no doubt.

And you’d still be more articulate and more sober.

His opinion. But to his fairness Pendles this pre season and round 1 game looks well off the pace. Hopefully he is just building into a big seaaon

Have to say I agree with him! Our most important player is Grundy, followed by Moore. Sidebottom is probably on the verge of an A Grader but he is known to produce a howler of a clanger. Our list is average and lots of people overrate it.
Treloar and Adams dont hurt the opposition, Wells does hurt the opposition but he cannot get on the park. Our one promising young player is Degoey, but we all know his issues!

I can't believe that Mike would say a bad word about us. I am frozen, stunned.

PS: His thoughts are fairly generous compared with some of the stuff said on this board in the past 5 days.

Don't usually agree with him but I think he's broadly pretty right on this one, although I think he's being a bit harsh on Pendles I'm not so sure he's slipped as far as that yet.

Just another enemy circling. He may have legitimate views, as have the other commentators, but they love to whack us. We have always been a big target, with an even bigger president of the last 20 years. Easy to hit.

Every time some one in the media says sometyhing unfavorable we look for hidden agendas. The reality is we are crap and we are news. It isn't the writer's fault, it is our fault ad siege mentality responses from the president are well passed use-by.

I'm looking forward to the end of season review and revamping the medical department in 2019.

whilst some of his comments might be right I get the feeling they were expressed out of pettiness.

I thought Mike was better than that. obviously his daughter isn't though.
Lots of issues there

We have long been the easy go to target.
It’s a form of bullying in a way.
Let’s all get together and bash bash bash....

It’s Collingwood so that’s ok.

(Ever see what happens when it’s given to the media?)

Does anyone harbour concerns that perhaps our training surface is not up to scratch? Don't know if done on the cheap and maybe the surface is too hard.

No evidence of this but I'd want that checked before we churn through any more medical and fitness people.
