He will retire, this is just a job for him hes made his bucks time to be a business man.

We probably wont see him around anything football related after he retires.

Im just happy we got him at his peak pre groin.

Judd to retire to read the nine sport and crossing to Twiggers for the weather , after Twiggers goes full time channel nine weather girl.

The real on air sexual tension between the two , would surpass the Sully McKewen sexual tension on the old 10 late news
Long way to go before they can match the sexual tension between McGuire and Buckley on The Footy Show...

Or Eddie's love of his own voice.

Better hope he doesnt retire.

Last year we delisted JR, Thornton and Bower. Probably around 500k freed up right there. This year Scotland will probably retire, and we can throw Carrots on the Vets list. Another 300k saved.

Assuming Scotland retires, we are have a spare 800k in the cap (not including the larger salary cap this year).

If Judd retires, we'll easily have the money to make a pitch for Buddy.

With loose change left over.

Do you want to post the same thing anymore times?

No doubt he's got some highly paid Visy job lined up for after he retires, which woud've been part of the agreement to move to Carlton.

Yes. I see him putting the entire board in a submission hold and gouging their eyes until he gets what he wants.

Is that before or after the brown paper bags?

Can't see Judd leaving Carlton for another club and I actually would not be surprised if he gives up football entirely (and doesn't bother as a special commentator or boundary rider or what have you) at the end of this year. Never struck me as being someone who wants to live and breathe football for all his life.

I think Carlton people tying in the Judd and Franklin issues may need to consider the timings.
Franklin has said he'll decide at the end of the season.
Judd is talking about making a decision some time during the season - when the Franklin position still won't be known.

TBH I don't think Judd's announcement has anything to do with Franklin. People suggesting he's going to see how the season unfolds, both for himself and the team before he officially commits to a new deal are closer to the money for mine.

If he does retire then Kurt Tippett should employ him as his manager and teach him a thing or two on how to rort the salary cap for 5 years and actually get away with it

;)

You don't need Visy, you have COLA ;)

Would be a welch act if he just cut and run as soon as the AFL denied him his VISY deal.

He's still getting paid the same, Carlton are the ones that cop it.

Have you seen the Balfours ads? Do you really think anyone can teach that boy anything?

This isn't a big deal because Judd will not be leaving Carlton. As others have said, its pretty obvious he is wanting to weigh up how long to keep kicking on for. He'll play out a chunk of the season, and IMO if the Blues are firing, AND he has the fire in the belly, AND the body is holding up, he'll rock on.

As others have said, he'll be looked after post footy - no one doubts that - so there isn't the financial incentive to hang onto his career for grim death like some players. IMO if the Blues are not a contender, he doesn't have the passion, or the body is beginning to fail, he'll walk. He's too proud a player to be just making up the best 22.

EDIT: I mean this in a good way BTW. Too many legends hang around to have their final years be remembered for some very average football. Better to retire before you fall off the cliff.
