If the club is keen to use "Dockers" then I can see why they have had to make the change. If this is the case, what way would the supporters preferred the club went? The last thing you want to be doing off the field is getting caught up in a sh*t fight in court with Levi.

If the club is willing to junk a great jumper to placate an American multinational that sees a conflict (despite the fact that you would have to be a complete moron to confuse the two) when the word Dockers is featured on clothing then they are a bunch of f**ckwitted craven idiots. The word Dockers does not currently feature on any clothing and merchandising sales are massive.

They are seeking to fix something that is not broken. :thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown::mad:

In 2008 the club advised that it would carry out a review of its brand elements, including the logo and jumper.
As part of the review, the club asked members to participate in a survey that was sent to them in a members’ newsletter on May 22, 2009.
In part, the survey sought members’ responses to questions about the club’s colours, logo, song and nick name….ie Dockers.
As part of the review of its brand elements, the club has considered a number of options for the future but at this stage has no formal announcement to make.

I'd like to see a copy of that survey that Lach posted about.

If they are using that as the basis for change then they should have canvassed opionion and then presented the options.

If there was a significant % of respondents that disliked the club elements then put up some alternate designs and alternate tunes, but include the current setup as well. Then club members could have their say. You can't conduct a fishing exercise and then use the results to make changes when the respondents weren't aware of the consequences of putting down their preferences.

They did something similar before the 2005 season but were explicit about the reason and put forward three options; it was decided to ditch the away jumper and just use the clash and the home jumper (including those games when the clash didn't suffice, like North, Sydney and Geelong)- among those options was a proposal to adopt the Haze as the home jumper. It didn't get up.
 
I have thought about this for a couple of days and have come to realise that I don't really give a flying fcuk. If we were a 50 year old club I might feel different.

The only that I want to see or hear is someone from the Fremantle Football Club holding a premiership cup. And I don't want to wait 50 years to see it either because I'll be dead:D

Nah, I mean that we are definitely dropping the anchor. Everyone is carrying on like it's offical but all the club has ever said - like in your post - is that it's just under review.

If these examples are correct then I would assume that the Woodside Logio will go over the heart in the three V's. Aesthetically, I reckon that will look completely sh*t.

Those jumper are Ok as training jumpers but against the anchor? :mad::mad:
 
I believe that the survey being blamed for the jumper design change wasn't the annual member survey, but a sample survey of around 1000 members. I am a member and I wasn't asked either.



It wasn't recently DM, either the end of last season or around Christmas.

I certainly remember a question along the lines of -

Q - How fond are you of the name "Dockers"
0 (Not at all)...1...2...3...4...5...6...7...8...9...10 (Very much so).


Then there was a question on the anchor and your preferred jumper.

Yep, I remember that survey.
 
I remember hearing about the marketing review a couple of years ago. As I posted here a couple of years ago that from an outsiders POV the dockers should streamline the club colours to purple and white. The red and green have always come across as surplus colours and focussing on the purple colour is a great marketing tool as the colour will be a unique brand for the club.

Not sure on the new jumpers though, I think the current purple haze jumpers and the away jumpers are great and should be retained, but going forward getting rid of the green and red is a great step for the club.

Yeah.. it was awesome then hey, after a 2 month whaling voyage there was nothing better to coming back home to port pulling a wench and downing a mighty ale and/or draught and then waltzing over to Freo oval to watch the gentlemen play a jolly good game of football... Just dodging all the horseshit on the way all over the street was a pain.. and trying not to catch tuberculosis.
