Wow, I guess my calls of scrapping the club and starting again weren't far off the mark then, if these are the opinions of morons like Kickett Punches Read and Plugga.

It's window dressing you idiots. I would prefer it if we spent the dollars doing a new marketing campaign on the footy department. For the first time in our history we got higher home crowds than our market competitor - how was that achieved? By us winning, not a bloody new jumper design and song.

That's not quite right KPR The club wants to embrace the "Dockers" nickname, whilst at the same time removing the anchor.

It appears that the board does NOT want us to simply be the "Fremantle Football Club", but instead want us to be the "Fremantle Dockers".

Yes, it IS all just a matter of opinion, but I reckon that there is nothing wrong with our current jumper. In fact, I think more than that. I reckon our jumper is bloody awesome. It is a unique, simple design which says so so much about the Fremantle Football Club:

• You've got purple - the alleged mixture of Easts' blue and Souths' red.
• You've got the anchor - celebrating our port heritage.
• You've got the red and green - indicating the port/starboard (plus the alleged homage to Freo's Italian heritage)

We've managed to fit so much heritage (hundreds of years of Freo heritage) and symbolism into such a simple jumper. It's the only thing we got right when we created this club. In my opinion it's just ludicrous to even consider changing it.

If Levis are being so anal about the whole "Dockers" thing, then ditch the name officially, unofficially, and anywhere it's ever been written. Sheesh, the anchor indicates that we're wharfies/dockers/port folk anyway - so it's an unnecessary add-on.

So, in conclusion, leave the bloody jumper alone, then change the song to get rid of any reference to "Dockers". Problem solved. And for zero cost, too.

Changing the jumper changes nothing on field. If we continue our poor performances, we will continue being a laughing stock. Richmond are a laughing stock despite having a decent jumper, decent colours and awesome song.

If you don't like the colours and design, then why do you follow Freo? Sure, you may be roped into it like KPR was because his relative was sacked as coach and don't know any better, but if the emblems Freo wear enrage you so much, then why don't people follow West Coast? Is it because you're all sad losers who hate success and winning premierships?

We could wear the most awesome jumpers in the world, and still lose every game if we don't continue to improve our footy departments and general processes. If people think that a change in jumper is the next step after what would normally be called a reasonable season, then they need to consider whether they are worthy of human existence.

It would have to be pretty bloody good. Getting to the point where you are proud of singing a song that once sounded corny and cringeworthy is not something you can just let go of overnight.

Think of it the opposite way, what on-field benefit is there keeping our old jumper? None. it is still the same players running around for us. I just happen to think it will look better with the new jumper. Nobody is seriously claiming it will do anything else.

Perhaps, but that still isn't anything to do with on-field performance. My point was that if an argument against it is that it will do nothing to improve on-field performances, the same argument could be be made for keeping the old jumper - it will likewise - do nothing to improve on-field performances.

I think a two colour jumper of purple and white is more pleasing to the eye.

IMHO, the song isn't one of the greats but it will do. It will need to take something pretty good to replace it. I haven't heard any alternatives at this stage.

The purple with white vs looks alot like their VIC jumper.
Im not against change, i am against change to something old fashioned an too much like the big V an many other teams out their.
Gonna have to have a new logo now too.
Cant keep the one we have since its got the big anchor with red an green.
Something that has just been thrown out the door an now has no relevance to our club.

I suck but u get the idea plus the red will need to be changed.
If i didnt like change i wouldnt like the red an green gone but that doesnt bother me coz the purple haze an its away version look great, that is what we should of changed to.

I respect your resistance to the changes and think on it's excellent that we can debate it on this site as opposed to other sites that claim to be the voice of the Freo fans, but outlandish claims are just a bit silly.

I honestly don't care, we've hardly built a strong history under the both. I'm a foundation member and not particularly connected to either.

I do like the away white strip, I'd be happy to keep that, but the song or the home jumper...Don't care.

Actually the only thing I want to keep is the Anchor.

To me, it reads like an empassioned adovcate for change. I don't see any comments stating that a change of song or jumper design WILL make us play better.

Advocating change dosent make you less of a supporter, however I don't think you are narrow minded if you dont like change.

This is just like parliment. Some lean one way, others the other way and a few independants that don't give a ****... I'm sure there is a minority goverment link and gag in there somewhere...

How about stop being so pig-headed, this is a forum discussion of opinions and as such people shouldn't be branded idiots for expression an opinion contrary to your own.

As for my opinion, I think that with both the AFL & Freo knowing this since prior to their inception, some key aspects should have been changed a decade ago so that in the inevitable event that changes are made that years aren't spent forging a brand that will eventually be swept under the rug.

I'm happy to wait till the full details are out after the Doig presentations.
