Freo should have been in that 2015 Final. Started 9-1 I'm sure. I think their problem has always been being able to take that next step in Finals, getting to a GF after 2013, and being able to crack that maiden flag, it was just TOO hard then. Of course dynasty-reigning Hawthorn didn't help! Ross peaked that year and it was all downhill skiing from there until the boot of 2019 came a-kicking.

Once they do, I think the enormous weight of expectation will lift and a few flags might follow - if this list can stay together, it's probably their best ever chance since 2015 time from here on in. This game is so much a mental thing, it's not funny....

Fremantle 9-1 and Sydney 8-2 both missed the GF that year.

Wowsers, wasn't aware of that. I think had we got past the Hawks in that bloody prelim, we'd take West Coast in the Grannie, although it'd be a nervy couple of hours to get to the end. West Coast would have HATED Freo would have won their first flag that way, hahaha! Alas, it wasn't to be...........so

Fyfe broken leg wouldn't play

Pav playing through injury was cooked

If Fyfe hadn't broken his leg it could have been a different story

West coast would've beaten us as I believe they had our measure by then.

I forgot about Fyfe and his leg. F*** Mitchell, dirty scumbag!!

Sliding doors and all dat. I guess we'll never know. Hard to fathom that was coming up to 10 years ago!

Don't think Mitchell broke Fyfe's leg, but he did give him a massive knee to the thigh muscle however. Mitchell the grub also got another player the same way about the same time from memory.

Fyfe broke his leg and Pav blew a calf…if we got over Hawthorn, fairly safe to say West Coast would have 5 cups
Meh, that was the year the dirty birds absolutely crapped the bed. We would have mopped the floor with them, even without no Pav and Fyfe. But purely because they were absolutely putrid.

Yeah sure, facing three peat Hawthorn or a Freo missing its two best players would’ve mentally the same

We rebuilt too quickly to really have that depth or develop quality talls to support Pavlich, Sandilands, McPharlin and Johnson.

We managed to get Dawson for nothing but Anthony didn’t work. Bradley sort of did but was injured in 2013. Even a real forward/ruck instead of Clarke would’ve gone a long way even if they were only at Bradley’s level.

It was only really three drafts at best to rebuild between 2008 and 2011 when you consider how compromised 2010 and 2011 were. And the players we were rebuilding to get the most out of (the talls listed above) were all pretty much done two years later.

It was just almost the perfectly executed short rebuild if we’d somehow managed to find another KPF and/or 2-3 better bottom six players from somewhere. It’s what we tried to do between 2016 and 2018 to steal a flag with Mundy, Fyfe and Walters in their prime but it didn’t work nearly as well.
What do you mean we rebuilt to quickly?

In 2012 to 2015, we just needed that experienced 2nd tall to help Pavlich. It didn't happen.

We got Tracey, Amiss, Sam Sturt and Luke Jackson as tall forwards. Yet we can't consistently make finals

I really want it to work out for JLo this year but if the worst case scenario happens and we don't make finals, then I would have a good hard look at Luke Beveridge to be our future coach, he's out of contract at the right time to make a smooth transition (a bit like when we poached Ross from stk).

I don't want the club to give JLo a contract extension until we make the finals, if we make finals then give him a 2 year extension.
Dockers don't make finals next season, then Longmuir is sacked.

Call me crazy.... I would seriously want Ken Hinkley at Port If he can deliver similar finals success like he has at Port from 2013- 2024

I’ll hand it to you
You are the biggest peanut on this site
You recycle opinions after the fact to prove a point.
Because you can’t use your own as you aren’t even close.

You might have a great username but you embarrass all supporters ( I’m taking license to others )
Your calls on the main board comments are just not even close to what even a normal freo supporter thinks.

If you can’t appreciate what has been built the last 5/6 years ( that’s your choice not ours )
How about you let the rest of us enjoy what’s coming

Here endeth the lesson

I hope 🤞 for my and your sake and everyone's sake the dockers make finals In 2025

I know it’s the off season and we are all bored but some of the takes going into the 25 season about game plan , transition from front to back. And people just seriously not happy about missing finals . I get it maybe ?
But some of the comments regards longmuir and the coaching staff are so far off the mark.
My question to posters is when do the players bare responsibility for the losses
The hardest thing to learn as a player is when under pressure is to be predictable ( not for a game a whole season ).
It’s a fast game built on split second decisions all your team mates ask is you are predictable
If all of sudden you go defensive sideways with a 20 metre chip instead of attacking long , or trying to take on the opposition and get caught everyone forward of the ball is instantly out of position.
The last 2 years freo are now attacking harder than I’ve seen for years. But if it doesn’t come off the backline and midfield is exposed.
What I liked this year as the season wore on was the fact more and more players chose attack first
If it didn’t come off big deal
But there were a lot of times it did.
I don’t care about the age profile who we should have kept and who we didn’t.

But the one thing we have only had once is total buy in by the club ( players 42 )
To put in the work and believe.
It’s not easy to achieve
But if you have ever been involved in a successful culture in and around football success always follows.

So to the armchair guys taking cheap shots by making a comment and then finishing with a sign off
“But longmuir or the selection committee won’t do what I say “
It’s a cheap shot
And reflects on you
And not them

I agree and disagree at the same time

Huskii that’s a good thing though
As an aside

Thank you for your training reports I love what you guys give to us that can’t be there.
As a freo supporter it’s people like you who make it great to be a supporter

Thanks mate I appreciate the kind words

It's all love though as we are all Freo tragics that could talk Freo all year long. For me there's never an off season.

I really liked reading your post. I have a few things that I wasn't overly happy with JLO last year. Tabs selection when I wanted a ruck to help Jackson in Reidy and our ruck set up against Sydney in the final seconds as well as against Essendon. Bar that as an arm chair expert it is hard for me to say I know more than JLO. I clearly don't. I just question the occasional decision.

I have a really good feeling about this season and hope we enjoy the journey.
